It’s no great shock, but it’s at last official! As predicted pretty much straight after P2 went to the great development house in the sky, Cryptic Studios has officially announced (to the surprise of no one), they are the new developers of Star Trek Online.

Its powered by the Cryptic Engine, and is being developed for PC and consoles, and will allow you to ‘Explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations in an expanding vast universe’…

• Customizable ships and characters
• Play Klingon Empire or United Federation of Planets
• Ground, space and shipboard gameplay
• Unique options for player-generated content set in the Star Trek universe

No news on if you can have inappropriate relationships with blue alien chicks, we can only wait and see!
