Liam Neeson & Bradley Cooper In Team for A-Team Remake

Liam Neeson & Bradley Cooper In Team for A-Team Remake

According to Variety, 20th Century Fox have finally got round to looking at casting for the long mooted A-Team movie. Liam Neeson (Star Wars: Episode I, Batman Begins… i’m not listing anymore. If you don’t know who Liam Neeson is, what rock have you been living under!) is apparently ‘in negotiations’ to play Hannibal. Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Yes Man, and played fake surgeon soap star Aidan Stone in Nip/Tuck) is in talks for Templeton “Faceman” Peck. Cooper looks like he’s going to be someone to watch over the next 12 months, as he’s also rumoured to be donning the power ring to play Hal Jordan in the new Green Lantern movie.

This big screen version of the classic 80s show The A-Team is being directed by Joe Carnahan (Smoking Aces, Narc…) and is due for release June 2010. Ridley Scott is producing.

Still no news on who’ll Murdock or B.A. I pity the fool that has to follow in Mr. T’s footsteps… (Okay, I’m sorry, but there had to be one ‘I pity the fool’ remark in there!) :D

UPDATE 12/06/09: Bradley Cooper has confirmed to Empire that (assuming the plan does come together) he will play Lt. Templeton ‘Faceman‘ Peck in The A-Team movie. Also there are rumours flying that the rapper Common is in talks to fill Mr. T’s shoes as B.A.

The First Total Recall

The First Total Recall

You know, at the rate Hollywood are remaking movies, i’m probably going to have 2 versions of every movie in my collection my the time i’m 50. Latest film to succumb to the complete lack of imagination of Hollywood execs is Total Recall. At least they chose to stick with announcing a ‘remake’ rather than going down the current trendy route of claiming they’re ‘rebooting’ Total Recall. Whatever happened to being happy making a sequel?

Kurt Wimmer writer of The Thomas Crown Affair, and Equilibrium is the one scribing this ‘contemporised adaptation’ of the Philip K. Dick novel ‘We Can Remember It For You Wholesale’, which the 1st Total Recall was also (very loosely) based on. Whether Wimmer decides to stick closer to K. Dick’s plot remains to be seen.

A very quick promo for the AMC’s remake of The Prisoner. Very hard to tell if it’s going to be any good from this, but it’s starring Jim Caviezel (aka Jesus) as ‘Six‘ and Gandalf/Magneto himself,  Sir Ian McKellen as ‘Two‘, so is probably worth a look. The air date for this 6 episode mini-series is likely to be sometime around November 09.

BBC has a interesting interview with Steven Spielberg about Microsoft‘s new Natal control system. As someone that was seriously considering trading in my rather dust covered XBox 360, this has really changed my mind. I think i may hold onto it a little longer.

Telltale Tell Tales Of Monkey Island!

Telltale Games have teamed up with LucasArts to bring some new stories from the legendary Monkey Island! Telltale will be bringing Guybrush Threepwood, evil pirate LeChuck, and many other characters from the classic point and click adventure back to the PC in the same episodic format that worked so well for them with the Sam & Max games.

I doubt they’ll ever compete with the genius writing of Gilbert, Schafer and Grossman in the original Monkey Island series, but i’m glad LucasArts have at least chosen to partner with pretty much the only people out there that are still waving the flag of the point and click genre.
