Ryan Reynolds is Green Lantern!
According to today’s reports, Ryan Reynolds has landed himself a power ring, a shiny green lantern and an aversion to the colour yellow! Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto and Justin Timberlake apparently all screen tested, but it was Reynolds that got the nod as Hal Jordan in the new Green Lantern movie.
It has been a long and tricky road to casting, as director Martin Campbell, producer Donald De Line and the studio (Warner Bros) all had different favorites as to who plays the “born without fear” test pilot with a passion for green spandex. Assuming the deal goes through, Reynolds would actually be the first actor to straddle the comic colossus of DC and Marvel, having recently played Deadpool in Marvel’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity. There is also supposed to be a Deadpool movie in development, although i’m not sure how Marvel will feel having Reynolds bat for the competition…
Reynolds seems like a decent fit for Jordan, and with Campbell directing (the man that twice breathed new life into the Bond franchise), I can really see this movie as being one to watch!
