Marlon Wayans was cast by Burton as Robin the Boy Wonder
Interesting little bit of info cropped up in an interview iO9 did with GI Joe actor Marlon Wayans recently. He revealed he was cast by Tim Burton to play Robin in his 1992 movie Batman Returns.
“I was actually supposed to play Robin, in Batman Returns, about 15 years ago. But there was too many characters. I was cast, I was paid and everything. I still get residual checks. Tim Burton didn’t wind up doing three, Joel Schumacher did it and he had a different vision for who Robin was. So he hired Chris O’ Donnell.”
I’d love to see a copy of the script that had Robin in it for Batman Returns, just to see how Burton was planning on inserting the Boy Wonder into his vision of the Batman story. Still picking up residual checks for a movie he never appeared in though… Nice going Marlon! :D
