Ghost Busters (1954) Trailer
I know this has been round the web a bit last week, but i thought i’d post it for those that haven’t caught it yet. Ever wondered what Ghostbusters would have been like if it had been made in the 1950s? Well some extremely talented spark put together this trailer so you can see. Work of pure genius!
In case you were wondering, here’s a list of the films used:
Ghostbusters, The Three Stooges, Scared Stiff, Ghost Breakers, Topper Takes a Trip, The Ghost Busters, Abbott and Costello meet the Invisible Man, Star Trek, Ghosts on the Loose, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Spooks Run Wild, Flubber, Son of Flubber, The Caddy, 100 ans d’histoires de Bibendum.
Star Wars: The Old Republic Gameplay & Voiceover Footage
Stumbled across this over on YouTube, and just had to post it. It’s an interview with some of the folk at Bioware showing gameplay and some of the recently announced voiceover footage for Star Wars: The Old Republic. The more I see of this game, the more awesome it looks!
Star Wars: The Old Republic Interview
There are 3 MMOs i’m really really looking forward to over the next 12/18 months. Stargate Worlds (which has been worryingly quiet of late), Star Trek Online, and Star Wars: The Old Republic. Inside Gaming recently got an interview with Tom Nichols, Exec Producer at Lucas Arts to talk through a few of their announcements from this years E3.
One of the things that has got me most excited about TOR is the level of detail Bioware are putting into the story in this game. The idea of having every single line of dialogue in an MMO voiced over by actors would seem insane coming from most developers. But when it’s coming from Lucas Arts/Bioware, it actually seems possible.
There have been a few games claim to be ‘a next gen MMO’, but this is the first one that really looks like it’s going to achieve it.
Bobby McFerrin Demonstrates the Pentatonic Scale
Spotted this over on BoingBoing, and thought it was suitably geeky to post. A pentatonic scale is a musical scale with 5 pitches per octave in contrast to a heptatonic (7 note) scale such as the standard major scale. What’s interesting about the pentatonic scale is it seems to be pretty much universally ingrained on the brain, and is common across many many forms of music throughout the world. And Bobby McFerrin has an rather interesting way of demonstrating this to an audience.
