Smallville: Absolute Justice Pics
Some shots of the upcoming ‘Smallville: Absolute Justice’ tv movie have started to pop up around the web over the last couple of days, so I thought it’s only fair to post them up!
- Doctor Fate and Stargirl
- Hawkman smacking down Green Arrow
- Hawkman (Stargate’s Michael Shanks)
- Clark’s new outfit
There’s also this trailer:
Well, I say upcoming…
‘Smallville: Absolute Justice’ tv movie IS upcoming if your in the USA…
Once again, despite the US having started Smallville season 9 in Sept 09, the UK is stuck waiting on the moronic idiot E4 programme schedulers for a Smallville season 9 uk air date… Given past history, i’m guessing it’ll be May 2010 before UK fans will get to see it (legally anyway) in the UK. I really really don’t condone downloading, but i’m not sure what broadcasters like E4 think is going to happen when you get a very dedicated fanbase that you force to wait 8 months to view their show legitimately…
Something, Something, Something, Darkside Trailer
I’m a huge fan of Family Guy, and Star Wars, and ‘Blue Harvest‘, so I’m geeked out to hear The 2nd Family Guy Star Wars episode is coming in to Blu-ray (BD) and DVD on 28 December , entitled ‘Something, Something, Something, Darkside‘. Trailer below:
A long time ago, in a Cinema not too far away, one of the greatest movies was unleashed upon the universe. It’s a dark time for the rebellion but the future has never been brighter for “Family Guy” and Star Wars fans when “Family Guy: Something, Something, Something, Darkside” arrives exclusively on Blu-ray (BD) and DVD on 28 December
from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
The second DVD premiere feature from the creators of “Family Guy” after 2005’s enormously popular Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, and a follow-up to the 2008 Star Wars spoof “Blue Harvest,” this time around the Griffin clan packs lightsaber sharp wit as they parody the classic sequel The Empire Strikes Back.
Luke (Chris), Leia (Lois), Han Solo (Peter) and Chewbacca (Brian) have evaded the dreaded Imperial Starfleet led by the cunning, conniving and curiously short evil lord Darth Vader (Stewie), setting up a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth. With the rebellion in trouble, young Skywalker must take the advice of his late, and rather lascivious, mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi (Herbert) and learn the ways of the “farce” under Jedi Master Yoda (Carl) to save the galaxy once and for all. “Family Guy” proves that even in the far reaches of space, the darkside can be much lighter!
“Family Guy” Something, Something, Something, Darkside” Blu-ray and DVD features bonus materials including digital copy, animatics and Family Guy trivia.
World of Warcraft Stole My Life: Second Skin
We’ve been a little lapse in our gaming news recently due to the massive amount of movie related stuff that’s been coming our way. However, this interesting little documentary popped up on Current TV‘s schedules, and i though it was worth a plug. It’s a look at some of the 11.5 million players behind World of Warcraft, from your average WoW player, to veteran guilds like ‘The Syndicate’ (which gets 4000 applications a year). It also looks at the more extreme parts of the culture, from people in Warcraft rehab to the Chinese gold farmers. Either way, if your a WoW or other MMO player, it should be worth a watch.
World of Warcraft Stole My Life: Second Skin airs on Current TV (Sky 183, Virgin 155) 11pm tonight (Tues 24), and is repeated 11.30pm on Friday (27 Nov) & 10pm on Sunday (29th Nov).
Londoners Face Worlds Largest Ever Ice Crevasse
Apologies for the lack of postage over the last few days. Blog issues + mountains of work + man flu = not much posting! However, I have been sent this nice little time-lapse video of world famous street painter Edgar Muller achieving a new Guinness World Record, by creating the world’s biggest 3D pavement art outside Westfield London yesterday. He beat his own world record by covering an area of 330 square metres with a jaw-dropping wintry scene inspired by the family film Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, celebrating its launch on Blu-ray and DVD today.
The pavement art took six days to create and included the beloved Ice Age 3 characters Manny, Buck, Sid, Diego, Scrat and Scratte positioned over an icy crevasse. If you want to catch a look at the artwork it’ll remain at Westfield London for a further week.
Craig Glenday, Editor in Chief of Guinness World Records was on hand to verify the new world record, and commented: “Guinness World Records has been monitoring the fantastic work of Edgar Mueller for some time now, and we’re thrilled to be so closely involved with his latest record-breaking creation. Children – and adults – around the world are blown away by Edgar’s eye-popping landscapes, and he truly deserves a place in the record books taking the art of pavement of drawing to stratospheric new levels.”
Review: Doctor Who – The Waters Of Mars
‘Don’t drink the water. Don’t even touch it. Not one drop.’
The Waters Of Mars sees The Doctor arrive on the aforementioned red planet in the year 2059. After once again finding himself at gun point for poking around somewhere he shouldn’t, he quickly realises he’s on Bowie Base One (nice Bowie reference there), the first off-world human colony… He also remembers what happened to the crew, and that he really shouldn’t be there… The events that take place on Bowie Base One are a ‘fixed point in time’. A point from which so many other significant events grow, it cannot or should not be altered.
The Water Of Mars has been trailered as the ‘beginning of the end’ for David Tennant‘s tenure as The Doctor, and that is certainly reflected in the writing. This is a lot darker in tone that anything I think we’ve seen RTD write for Who up to this point. Not only are the water aliens some of the most disturbing I think we’ve seen, even The Doctor himself reveals a seriously disturbing dark side, much more so than I think he’s revealed before (in ‘New Who’ anyway).
Despite it’s overall darker tone, there are still the funny one liners we’ve come to expect in new Who. When asked for his name, rank and intentions on first arriving at the base, his response is ‘The Doctor. Doctor and… Fun!’ David Tennant once again proves he’s large shoes for Matt Smith to fill in the new year, jumping from wonderfully manic to great sorrow, to downright disturbing with unfeasible ease. Lindsay Duncan does a fine job as the temp companion for the episode, proving at times to be an extremely strong willed counter to the Doctor.
The visuals are as good as we’ve come to expect from Doctor Who (there’s a phrase growing up in the 80′s I never thought i’d read!) The water monsters are particularly impressive, not only with the make up/prosthetics, but the way they’d constantly appeared to be spewing water from their mouths.
Judging by The Waters Of Mars, and the trailer that followed for Tennant’s final 2 episodes at Christmas, it looks like RTD plans on taking us down a dark, heart wrenching path that’ll have fans crying into their mulled wine… I for one can’t wait!
If your in the UK, you can get the trailer for the Christmas Specials here.
