Joss Whedon Returns to TV

If you ask me, any news about Joss Whedon making anything is good news, but what we have here is some full on, fan-bloomin-tastic news!.. Hot from his triumph of The Avengers movie, he’s now overseeing the production of a new TV show for US network ABC based around Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D.

The new show is green-lit, and goes into production, right now! Writing duties will be shared with Joss’s brother Jed, and Maurissa Tancharoen, who worked with Joss on The Avengers, and also the unquantifiable genius that is ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog’. Jed and Maurisssa will serve as exec producers, along with Angel exec producer Jeffrey Bell, and comic book god and Marvel TV VP Jeph Loeb.

S.H.I.E.L.D. – or the ‘Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate’ to give the organisation it’s full title, is a great pick for a TV show. Ensemble cast with some abilities, but not budget blowing superpowers (they’re leaving that to the HULK tv show which is also still in development).

I’ve just got a new favourite TV show to add to my watch list…

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe were this is set. SHIELD stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division

LOL that’s a great comment from Ryan.

I really hope Sam Jackson will be a part fo this.

Brilliant news, and according to Shawn Ryan:

“Joss Whedon is an excellent choice to remake The Shield, but I’m leary of choice to make Strike Team like superheroes.”
