This news had been on the cards for a while, but Syfy’s Alphas has been cancelled, so will not return for a 3rd season.
The show, created by Zak Penn and Michael Karnow, follows a team of ordinary people with extraordinary abilities working to solve cases that have baffled government agencies.
The writing had been on the wall for Alphas for a while, as the renewal got pushed back… and then back again… The viewing figures had tumbled throughout the 2nd season, and SyFy has already got a number of new shows in development and due to air soon.
These shows include Defiance (a show set after an alien war has decimated the planet) which airs in April in the US. Earlier in development is a show based around DC’s ‘glory-seeking, showboating superhero’ Booster Gold. And Ron Moore (BSG head honcho) is rumoured to have closed a deal to develop Helix (outbreak from an Arctic research facility threatens to destory the world population.)
