Coming from J.J. Abrams and Supernatural’s Eric Kripke, it’s no surprise Revolution took the top spot for most anticipated TV show in the UK for 2013. The show is based around the idea that all technology has blacked out. Gone. Seemingly forever. It’s a battle for survival in a world where militias and warlords have taken over, as a small rogue band attempt to re-establish the USA, as well as discover what caused all the power to fail in the first place.

Revolution will air on Sky 1 in March 2013

Most Anticipated Films of 2013

  • 10th – Thor: The Dark World
  • 9th –  Oz: The Great & The Powerful
  • 8th – Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
  • 7th – Monsters University
  • 6th – Kick Ass 2
  • 5th – A Good Day To Die Hard
  • 4th – Man Of Steel
  • 3rd (Bronze Award) – Iron Man 3
  • 2nd (Silver Award) – The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug

1st (Gold Award) – Star Trek Into Darkness

It’s not really a great surprise Star Trek ended up with the gold here. It’s a film directed by J. J. Abrams, who’s already taken a Silver for Fringe in the Sci-Fi TV Show category and a Gold Award in Most Anticipated TV Show for Revolution. The main villain this time round is Benedict Cumberbatch, who’s tv show Sherlock has picked up a Gold Award in Best British Show, and a Gold in Best TV Drama. Despite lots of rumor and conjecture, Abrams has managed to keep the real identity of Cumberbatch’s character under wraps (so far anyway!) We’re told he is playing a ‘canon’ character, so it’s not someone new just made up for the film. He’s someone in established Star Trek ‘history’. We just have to wait until May this year to find out!

Most Anticipated Games of 2013

  • 10th – Dust 514
  • 9th – XCOM
  • 8th – Neverwinter
  • 7th – Company OF Heroes 2

  • 3rd (Bronze Award) – The Elder Scrolls Online
  • 2nd (Joint Silver Award) – Star Wars 2013
  • 2nd (Joint Silver Award) – Simcity

1st (Gold Award) Grand Theft Auto 5

In a year when they release a GTA game, there really is no competition. The franchise juggernaut that is the GTA series is pretty unstoppable. From it’s humble beginnings as a low-res top-down mayhem simulator, to it’s current form as an epic third person, open world, mayhem simulator with a story, it’s really hard to find any other game that does GTA’s style as well as the original.

In this latest installment, the player takes control of 3 characters with very different backgrounds, but all who get pulled into the criminal underworld in search of making a profit and settling scores.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is currently scheduled for release in July 2013. Edit: 17th September 2013 (release date got pushed back!)
