Competition: Win a set of 4 Jonathan Tropper novels!
With the ‘ultra-violent, ultra sexy’ TV show Banshee screaming onto our screens via Sky Atlantic a couple of weeks ago, we thought it’d be nice to give away a few of co-writer Jonathan Tropper‘s other work! Be warned, if you’re a fan of his TV writing on Banshee, the books are of a very different style! Less ‘Oldboy’ more ‘About A Boy’. 😉
Here’s a rundown of the Jonathan Tropper novels:
At 32, Zachary King seems to have it all – a beautiful fiancé, a well-paid job, a rent-free Manhattan apartment… Life seems perfect. But as the wedding looms closer, Zach’s charmed life begins to show a few cracks… His feelings for his best friend’s widow which maybe more than platonic… Norm, his absent father, making a surprise re-appearance after 20 years, desperate to make amends for walking out on him… And finally, an unpleasant reality-check after a visit to the doctor…
Inspired by Norm (often misguided and outrageous) attempts at redemption, Zack boldly attempts to make some changes of his own… and the results are instantly calamitous.
Soon fists are flying, his love life is a shambles, and his once carefully structured existence is spinning hopelessly out of control… Everything Changes.
When Doug married Hailey – beautiful, smart and ten years older – he left his carefree Manhattan life to live in the suburbs with her and her teenage son, Russ. Three years later, at 29, Doug has been a widower for twelve months and just wants to drown himself in self-pity and Jack Daniels… But his family has other ideas…
Russ is furious with Doug for not adopting him, and has fallen in with a bad crowd. Claire, Doug’s irrepressible, pregnant twin sister, has left her husband and, uninvited, moved in with Doug. And their sister Debbie is determined to have the perfect wedding, at any cost.
Soon, Doug finds himself trying to forge a relationship with Russ and reconnect with his own eccentric family, while reluctantly edging back into the complicated world of dating…
Judd Foxman has the life he always thought he’d have. Good job, loving wife and a perfect house in the suburbs. That is, until he arrives home to find his wife in bed with his boss.
To prove things can always get worse, Judd is summoned back to his childhood home – along with the rest of his highly dysfunctional family – to mourn for his recently deceased father. Seven days, all together, back in the family home where no one got along the first time around…
‘This Is Where I Leave You’ is about to be made into a movie with Abigail Spencer, Jason Bateman, Timothy Olyphant, & Tina Fey.
Meet Silver. Forty-four, divorced and living alone. His once celebrated music career is now a faded memory and his ex-wife is about to marry another man. The only good thing in Silver’s life is his Princeton-bound teenage daughter, Casey – and she would probably say the exact opposite about him. So in Silver’s opinion, things could be going better . . . a lot better. Then Casey drops a bombshell: she’s pregnant. Yes, it was her first time, and, no, she hasn’t told her mom. Silver knows things have got to change, and when he discovers he has a fatal heart condition that means he could drop dead at any minute, he decides it’s time to make a list:
- Be a better father
- Be a better man
- Fall in love
But the question is, can Silver rebuild his life, regain the respect of his family, and be there for Casey when she needs him most, or has he left it all too late?
