The Flash & Forever Coming to Sky 1!

by Dave Elliott

As we’ve been predicting for a while, Sky 1 HD today announces they have picked up, not only THE FLASH as expected, but also the new Ioan Gruffudd fantasy drama FOREVER. Both acquired in a deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. Adding to the channel’s portfolio of US drama, including hit US series ARROW, MODERN FAMILY, GLEE, HAWAII FIVE-0, NCIS: LOS ANGELES and 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY; THE FLASH and FOREVER will land on Sky 1 screens in 2014.

The Flash

From the executive producers (Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg) and creative team behind hit series ARROW, THE FLASH follows the high-speed adventures of the fastest man alive. Central City Police scientist Barry Allen (Grant Gustin, GLEE) has been standing still emotionally since the day his mother was murdered and his father unjustly jailed for the crime. But when an unexpected and devastating accident at the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator facility strikes Barry, he finds himself suddenly charged with the incredible power to move at super speeds. Barry sets out to use his newfound superhero powers to stop crime. Working alongside his adopted father Detective West (Jesse L. Martin), Barry uses his superhuman abilities to help the people of Central City and stop the rogues ‘ gallery of villains, many of whom have also been altered by the particle accelerator explosion.

There is not exact air date yet, but I’d be amazed if it doesn’t arrive coupled with Arrow in October!

What would you do if you had all the time in world? FOREVER, from executive producer/writer Matt Miller (Chuck, Las Vegas, Human Target) and executive producers Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz, sees Dr Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd, Fantastic Four), a star New York City medical examiner, embark on a journey to answer that looming question. Henry has a vested interest in studying the dead – he is immortal and only his best friend and confidant, Abe (Judd Hirsch, Taxi) knows his secret – he hasn’t aged at all since the clock stopped 200 years ago. Henry’s affliction becomes increasingly difficult to hide when he meets recently widowed NYPD detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza, Law & Order) who is fascinated by Henry after learning he was the sole survivor of a horrific train crash – and his knowledge proves extremely helpful to her in solving crimes. Living through two centuries lends an expert eye to Henry’s professional work, but it also leads to many personal questions; will he ever discover why he can’t die and will Jo figure out who Henry really is?

I’d expect this to land in October, but there’s no official air date yet, so bookmark the Forever uk tv air date page to check the exact premiere date.
