If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like interviewing people on the red carpet at a premiere, take a look at this video! I shot it whilst at the premiere for Peaky Blinders Series 2, using a great device called SunnyCam Glasses. Put simply, they are glasses with a camera embedded in them, so you can just record video of whatever you’re looking at. :) Gives you a kinda interesting perspective on what it’s like interviewing the people face-to-face, as they’re looking straight at you. I also means I didn’t have to have a tripod, or have someone with me holding a camera, which given the limited space you tend to get in press lineups is really handy! Yes, it does mean the video is somewhat shaky (unless you stand totally still and don’t move your head… which I didn’t want to do as that would probably freak out the actor!) ;)

The video includes Finn Cole, who is a new cast member this season, and is also younger brother of Joe Cole, who plays John, one of the 3 Shelby brothers. I also spoke to Helen McCrory (Aunt Polly), Cillian Murphy (Tommy Shelby), and the lovely Charlotte Riley. Charlotte is another new face this season, and is joined by her husband, and Cillian’s Inception co-star Tom Hardy, who also plays a new character, that makes Tommy ‘an offer he can’t refuse…’

The world premiere screening of the first episode of the new series took place in Birmingham on Sunday 21st September. Cillian Murphy, Helen McRory, series creator Steven Knight and further cast were joined by 150 fans of the show and invited guests to a special screening in the hometown of the Peaky Blinders gang.

If you want more from the premiere, check our the Geektown Podcast, which include the entire Q&A session with the cast, hosted by broadcaster Andrew Collins after the premiere.

Peaky Blinders returns to BBC2 on the 2nd of October at 9pm. I’ve already seen the first episode, and it’s fantastic, so I urge you to tune in!
