Season 3 Of Penny Dreadful Is It’s Last

Today it was announced that Season 3 of Penny Dreadful was it’s last according to the show’s creator, John Logan.

The psychological thriller took a selection of literature’s most terrifying characters, including Dr. Frankenstein and his monster, Dorian Gray, and iconic figures from the novel Dracula, and mixed them together in a brand new narrative set in Victorian London.

Logan commented “I can absolutely confirm it is really over, the end, that’s all she wrote.” He continued “Some poems are meant to be haikus and some are meant to be sonnets and some are meant to be enormous epics, and this was always meant to be a sonnet. It was something of grace and beauty. I think we’ve been able to achieve that in a really masterful way with the artists that I work with, everyone’s work. I think this is the right ending so for me to revisit that world again would seem inorganic, I think.”

Penny Dreadful, which starred Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Harry Treadaway, Josh Hartnett & Rory Kinnear, was a co-production between Showtime in the US and Sky in the UK. Based in it’s highly theatrical, gothic setting, the show was never afraid to make bold moves, which has endeared the show to many fans both here and across the pond.

Penny Dreadful is currently airing on Sky Atlantic in the UK, concludes with a double episode tomorrow evening (Tues 21st June 2016 at 10pm).
