SWCE 2016 – LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures Panel Video

by Dave Elliott

Along with the Star Wars Rebels Panel at Star Wars Celebration 2016 today we also got to see the panel for LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, which is a new show coming to Disney XD in the UK. The panel consisted of Executive Producers Bill Motz, Bob Roth, director Michael Hegner and Matthew Wood (voice of “R0-GR”).

Set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, The Freemaker Adventures is set in the ‘canon-adjacent’ LEGO Star Wars world. It follows a family of scavengers who build and sell starships from the scoured debris of space battles strewn throughout the galaxy. When Rowan, the youngest member of the Freemaker family, discovers a natural connection with the Force, his world is turned upside down. The family, which consists of Rowan, elder brother & ace pilot Zander, and the tomboy-ish middle sister Kordi, are thrown into an epic struggle against the Empire to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy. The group also have the help of R0-GR, a refurbished B1 battle droid, who’s not all that bright, but is rather lovable!

The panel itself was good fun, and they revealed a number of the old Star Wars characters are popping up on the show. We saw LEGO Luke & Leia, but they also revealed that Lando will be making an appearance, and will be voiced by Billy Dee Williams! The also showed footage from an upcoming Podrace sequence which will be airing in episode 7.

You can watch the video of the whole panel above – I apologise for the shaky camera work in places as there wasn’t room to set up a tripod!
