Sky Goes To The Riviera With Julia Stiles, Adrian Lester & Iwan Rheon

Sky has announced the full cast for it’s new pan European original drama Riviera, which has just started shooting in the South of France.

From writer/director Neil Jordan (The Borgias, The Crying Game, Interview with the Vampire), comes a story of morally ambiguous characters, complex relationships and emotionally driven drama, based in the opulent world of the ultra-rich on the French Riviera.

Julia Stiles (The Bourne Series, Dexter) stars as Georgina, a Midwestern US girl turned smart, resourceful wife of the billionaire art collector Constantine Clios, who is is killed in an explosion aboard the yacht of a Russian oligarch and arms dealer.

Believing there to be more to the tragedy, she sets out to uncover what happened. Dark truths about Constantine’s dealings emerge and, as she begins to realise who she was really married to, Georgina enters a spiral of moral descent as she becomes immersed in a world of lies, double-dealing and criminality.

In order to maintain the Clioses’ legendary Côte d’Azur mansion and protect the family and its fortune, she will have to learn to adapt, survive and ultimately thrive in her dangerous new reality. But as she first proved back in her days as a fine-art scholar in the US, she’s an A-plus student…

“I’m very pleased I’ve been given the opportunity to work with such a talented international team on this thriller.” Commented Adrian Lester, who plays Georgina’s friend and art dealer Robert Carver. Lester is someone used to portraying morally ambiguous characters, having recently played ‘Nick Johnson’ in the BBC’s brilliant Undercover. He continued “Cast and crew are top notch. I can’t wait to get started.”

Other cast includes Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones’s Ramsay Bolton… Boo hiss…) and Dimitri Leonidas (The Monuments Men, Sinbad) as Constantine’s sons Adam and Christos; Lena Olin (Vinyl, Chocolat, Alias) as Irina, Constantine’s beautiful ex-wife, Roxane Duran (White Ribbon, Witnesses) as Adriana and Phil Davis (Poldark, Whitechapel, Being Human) as Jukes, the art fraud investigator trying to get to the heart of the truth.

Riviera joins a host of new, original drama series coming to Sky Atlantic and Sky 1 over the next 12 months, including The Young Pope starring Jude Law, action/adventure series Hooten & The Lady, Guerrilla starring Idris Elba, Tin Star featuring Tim Roth and Christina Hendricks, Delicious starring Dawn French, historical dramas Jamestown & Britannia and The Last Dragonslayer based on the Jasper Fforde’s novels. There are also returning series including Fortitude Season 2 starring Dennis Quaid, Gomorrah Season 2 and the return of Agatha Raisin.

Riviera is due to arrive on Sky Atlantic in 2017.
