American Gods Join Amazon Prime Video UK

The tv adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods has found a UK home on Amazon Prime Video UK it has been announced.

Airing on Starz in the US, the highly anticipated new drama tells the story of a brewing war between the mythical gods of old, and the new gods created by society. It follows the idea that gods are created by people’s belief in them. New gods of things such as media, drugs, technology and celebrity have risen from society’s obsessions, and they see no room for the old gods of mythology.

The series follow Shadow (Ricky Whittle – The 100), an convict who is released from prison. On a flight back home, he finds himself sat next to the mysterious ‘Mr. Wednesday’ (Ian McShane – Ray Donovan, Pirates of the Caribbean), who appears to know a lot more about Shadow than a stranger should… This conversation leads to Shadow becoming a bodyguard for Wednesday as he travels the country meeting up with an unusual group of friends. It is then revealed that Wednesday is actually the norse god Odin, and these meetings are to try and rally support for the upcoming battle with the new, young upstarts…

Additional cast for the show includes Gillian Anderson (X-Files, The Fall) as Media, Crispin Glover (Back To The Future) as Mr. World, Corbin Bernsen (L.A. Law) as Vulcan, and Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as Mr. Nancy.

American Gods is due to arrive in 2017 both on Starz in the US, and on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
