Altered Carbon TV Series Adds 2 More Cast Members

Ato Essandoh (Vinyl, Elementary, Blue Bloods) and Chris Conner (People vs. O. J.) have been added to the cast of Netflix’s Altered Carbon, the tv adaptation of Richard Morgan‘s award winning  cyberpunk novel it was announced today.

The show stars Suicide Squad and Robocop actor Joel Kinnaman as Takeshi Kovacs, as an ex-elite interstellar warrior, know as an ‘Envoy’. Having been imprisoned for nearly 500 years, he awakes to find himself downloaded into a new body to try and solve a murder, in a world where death is nearly obsolete. If he can find the answers to this mystery, he gets to go free.

Essandoh has been cast as Vernon Elliot, an ex-Protectorate Tactical Marine who has little to live for after his wife was imprisoned and his daughter killed. He should be a natural enemy to Kovacs, but their love of family (and violence) draws them together.

Conner is playing Poe, an ancient A.I. who is currently programmed with the mind of Edgar Allen Poe… He is the owner of an upscale hotel called, naturally, The Raven.

Additional cast aready announced includes James Purefoy (The Following, Rome), as the 500 year old aristocrat Laurens Bancroft, and Dichen Lachman (The Last Ship, Dollhouse, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Reileen Kawahara, Kovacs’ sister.

There’s currently no air date for Altered Carbon, but we will keep you updated when we know more.
