New York Comic Con is currently in full swing, and Netflix chose the occasion to drop, not only new footage from the upcoming Iron Fist series, but also announce a major addition to The Defenders cast!
Marvel’s Iron Fist debuts Friday, 17th March 2017 at 8:01am (UK time), and sees Finn Jones take on the role of Danny Rand, a Billionaire who returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
There were a number of surprise guests during the Iron Fist panel, including Jon Bernthal, who is reprising his role as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in his own series next year. They also brought out Deborah Ann Woll, who is joining the show, reprising her Daredevil role as Karen Page. They were then joined by Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, the rest of The Defenders.
The biggest surprise though came in the Alien ass-kicking form of Sigourney Weaver, who is playing “a significant but unspecified role” in Marvel’s The Defenders. “Marvel is honored to have an actress of her caliber and status join what is already our biggest show ever! She is by definition a class act,” commented Jeph Loeb, Marvel God Of TV, who was chairing the panel.
They also seem to be implying we will get 3 Marvel series next year – Iron Fist, The Punisher and The Defenders.
