Tony Almeida Returns In 24: Legacy

They may not have convinced Jack Bauer to return (“dammit!”), but another member of the original 24 cast will be appearing in the new 24: LegacyCarlos Bernard will be reprising his role as Tony Almeida in the new show.

Tony had one of the most interesting arcs on the original series, starting as an antagonist CTU agent, before becoming a friend to Bauer, and apparently dying in season 5. He then reemerges in Season 7 as a villain, before his last appearance on the Blu-ray extras of season 9 in a short called 24: Solitary, which chronicled his life in prison. It remains to be see whether he’ll be a help or hinderance to new 24 lead Eric Carter, played by Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead, Straight Outta Compton).

24: Legacy follows army ranger Eric Carter (Hawkins) who has returned from a mission to kill terrorist leader Sheik Ibrahim Bin-Khalid. Back on US soil, he discovers his squad mates are being killed off in apparent retaliation for Bin-Khalid assassination, and he could be next. Looking for help, Carter turns to CTU to protect him, and ends up joining them to stop what could be the largest terrorist attacks in US history.

Joining Hawkins and Bernard in the new series are Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings, Homeland) as former head of CTU and wife of Senator John Donovan (Jimmy Smits – Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, Star Wars, The West Wing), who is running for President. The Flash’s Teddy Sears (Zoom) is playing current CTU head – Keith Mullins, whilst Anna Diop (Quantico) plays Eric’s wife Nicole, and Ashley Thomas (Black Mirror, The Night Of) plays Eric’s brother Isaac.

24: Legacy airs in the US, February 2017. Currently there’s officially no UK network or air date for the show… However, if it goes anywhere other than Sky 1, I suspect someone at the channel is getting fired. ;)
