Westworld Has Been Renewed For A 2nd Season

In an announcement which will come as a huge shock to… well… no one… Westworld has been renewed for a 2nd season. Sarah Jessica Parker’s Divorce and the comedy Insecure have also been renewed by HBO.

The epic sci-fi western drama is set to air either in late 2017, or possibly early 2018, due to the huge complexities of the production. Created by Jonathan Nolan & Lisa Joy, Westworld has been a massive hit for HBO, gaining audience week on week. Many people touted the show as being the next Game Of Thrones for the network, and it seems, number wise, that has been very much the case.

“We’re thrilled that the saga of Westworld will continue for another season,” commented Nolan & Joy. “During the lengthy journey to the screen, our incredibly talented actors, staff and crew became a family, and we look forward to the privilege of continuing this experience with them. We’re also thankful to all of our amazing partners at HBO, WBTV, and Bad Robot for their steadfast support, imagination and ambition. We simply couldn’t have made this show anywhere else.”

For those of you that have been living under a rock for the last few weeks, Westworld is set in a futuristic western-themed park, where all the visitors darkest desires and depravities can be made real. Guests can play, kill or do… pretty much anything else imaginable… to the synthetic human-like ‘hosts’ who populate the park. But what happens when the hosts start to become conscious and aware of the wider world around them? The show is described as a “dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin”, and it delivers that promise by the bucketload.

You can see the announcement trailer for Westworld Season 2 below. Westworld will return either late 2017 or early 2018.
