Frontier Starring Jason Momoa Coming To Netflix In January

Jason Momoa’s new tv series Frontier will land on Netflix UK, 20th January 2017 it has been announced.

The six-part drama is set in 1700s Canada and revolving around warring factions vying for control of the fur trade in a ruthless, brutal game of wealth and power. Told from multiple perspectives, the series takes place in a world where business negotiations might be resolved with close-quarter hatchet fights, and where delicate relations between Native tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts. Irish stowaway Michael Smyth (Landon Liboiron – Hemlock Grove) has barely stepped foot in the New World when he becomes embroiled in a dangerous battle between the fearless and violent Declan Harp (Momoa) and the formidable Lord Benton (Alun Armstrong – New Tricks, The Hollow Crown) of the Hudson’s Bay Company.

Momoa first came to our attention in another Canadian shot tv series, Stargate Atlantis, as Ronon Dex. The role that really pushed him into the stratosphere though, was playing the brilliant Khal Drogo in Game Of Thrones. That led to on to him being cast as Aquaman in DC’s Cinematic Universe.

The show has been created by Republic of Doyle’s Rob and Peter Blackie, with San Andreas director Brad Peyton behind the camera. It’s being made by Discovery Canada, who have already renewed it for a 2nd season, and Netflix are handling the international airing outside of Canada.

Frontier will begin streaming on Netflix UK, 20th January 2017.
