Nashville Season 5 Trailer Has Arrived

by Dave Elliott

Nashville returns for it’s 5th season on a new network in the US, and having recently switched channels in the UK.

The season begins with Rayna and Deacon facing a new normal with Maddie now back home and Highway 65 struggling financially. The shocking news about Juliette creates a wave of emotions throughout Nashville and sets Rayna off on a journey of discovery.

Nashville is set against the backdrop of the city’s music scene and follows Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere). Both women face personal and professional challenges as they navigate their paths as artists and individuals. Surrounding them and often complicating their lives are their family, friends and, in some cases, lovers, as well as the up-and-coming performers and songwriters trying to get ahead in the business. Music City can mean so many things to different people. In Nashville, musicians and songwriters are at the heart of the storm driven by their own ambitions. Some are fueled by their creativity and passion for fame. Others struggle to cope with the pressures of success and are doing everything in their power to stay on top.

The show was dropped by ABC, it’s original US network, but saved by CMT in the US. At the same time in the UK, Nashville moved from More4 over onto Sky Living for it’s 4th season. Usually we can predict return dates for shows based on their previous air dates, however with the channel switching for Nashville, it’s hard to say when it will return in the UK.

Nashville Season 4 is currently airing on Sky Living, and will conclude that run on the 13th January 2017. Season 5 is due to start airing on CMT in the US on the 5th January 2017, so it’s possible we could see Nashville Season 5 early in the new year on Sky Living as well…

Having said that, it doesn’t appear in any of the January preview material from Sky, so there is likely to be at least a month gap between seasons 4 & 5 in the UK. Sky will probably want some buffer space between the UK and US broadcast to remove the gaps you traditionally get in the USA’s erratic scheduling… This is just speculation at this point though, so keep an eye on the Nashville UK TV Air Date page for the latest information on Season 5.
