ITV2 Sets Jan UK Air Date For Joel McHale/Stephen Fry Comedy ‘The Great Indoors’

by Dave Elliott

ITV2 have set a UK premiere date of Monday 9th January 2017 at 9.30pm for Joel McHale’s new comedy The Great Indoors it has been announced.

Community star McHale plays renowned adventure reporter for ‘Outdoor Limits’ magazine who has spent his life exploring the edges of the earth. When the magazine’s founder Roland (Stephen Fry) announces it is to become an online only publication, he’s forced to take a desk job in the digital department, and adapt to the times and his new ‘indoor’ world. He’s struggling to grasp the lingo of online ‘click-bait’ and ‘listicles’, but his real challenge is in understanding his staff of millennials who write about the great outdoors but never actually set foot outside…

The millennials comprise of Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Kick-Ass) as Clark, a tech nerd who knows everything about surviving on Mars and a zombie apocalypse; Christine Ko (BFFs) as Emma, their social media expert who views Jack as the human version of dial-up; and Shaun Brown as Mason, a hipster-lumberjack who hasn’t spent any actual time outside.

Jack reports to Roland’s daughter, Brooke (Susannah Fielding – Black Mirror, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), an ex-flame who caters to the sensitive staffers by giving them all trophies just for working hard. He’s helped by his best friend, Eddie (Chris Williams – Silicon Valley, One Big Happy), who runs the local dive bar that’s popular with the younger set and helps Jack ‘decode’ his co-workers.

The Great Indoors airs Monday 9th January 2017 at 9.30pm on ITV2.
