Best Male & Female Performance in a TV Show

We’re back with part 2 of the 5th Annual Geektown Awards results! We focus a lot on the overall tv shows, but they would be nothing without the talented actors that bring all the wonderful characters to life. Here are the nominees and winners for the Best Male & Female Performances.

Best Male Performance

Nominees: Bob Odenkirk – Better Call Saul, Cuba Gooding Jr. – American Crime Story, Kit Harrington – Game Of Thrones, Jon Bernthal – Daredevil, Peter Dinklage – Game of Thrones, Steven Yeun – The Walking Dead, Tom Hiddleston – The Night Manager

Bronze: Peter Dinklage – Game of Thrones

Silver: Steven Yeun – The Walking Dead

And The Winner Is…

Tom Hiddleston – The Night Manager

This category was so so close, with less than 1% separating the top 3 positions. However, it was Tom Hiddleston’s excellent performance as The Night Manager turned spy that just clinched the top spot. A far cry from his scenery chewing role as Loki in the Avengers movies, Hiddleston’s portrayal of Jonathan Pine, the hotel manager who ends up entangled in the web of international arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie), had audiences on the edge of their seats for the whole of the 6 part mini-series. Brilliant and compelling television from start to finish.

Best Female Performance

Nominees: Claire Danes – Homeland, Emilia Clarke – Game Of Thrones, Julia Louis-Dreyfus – Veep, Maisie Williams – Game Of Thrones, Melissa McBride – The Walking Dead, Tatiana Maslany – Orphan Black

Bronze: Melissa McBride – The Walking Dead

Silver: Emilia Clarke – Game Of Thrones

And The Winner Is…

Maisie Williams – Game Of Thrones

We should really rename this category ‘Best Female Performance In Game Of Thrones‘, as it always seems to be one of the GoT cast that wins it. This year is no exception, with the wonderful Maisie Williams landing the top spot. Season 6 saw Arya regain her sight, avoid being assassinated, leave Braavos and the Faceless Men, and return to being the kick ass Stark we know and love. With the event going on in Westeros right now, I’m sure they will be happy to have her back!
