Sky 1 has picked up the new reboot of MacGyver Geektown has learnt, with plans to air on the 8th February 2017 at 8pm.
For those unfamiliar with the show, it is a ‘reimagining’ of the classic Richard Dean Anderson series, with Lucas Till (X-Men’s Havok) taking over the lead role. The action-adventure drama follows the exploits of 20-something Angus ‘Mac’ MacGyver (Till), who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives.
Joining his team on high-risk missions around the globe is maverick former CIA agent Jack Dalton (CSI’s George Eads) and Patricia Thornton (Sandrine Holt – House of Cards), ex-field agent turned director of operations and Riley Davis (Tristin Mays – The Vampire Diaries), an unpredictable computer hacker with a chip on her shoulder. At home, MacGyver is entertained by his ambitious roommate, Wilt Bozer (Justin Hires – Rush Hour).
The unique selling point of MacGyver was always his ability to get out of sticky situations using whatever materials he had to hand, and this continues on the new show. Working under the aegis of the ‘Department of External Services’, MacGyver takes on the responsibility of saving the world, armed to the teeth with resourcefulness and little more than bubble gum and a paper clip.
MacGyver is currently set to air in the UK at 8pm on the 8th February 2017.
