The Good Fight Picked Up For A 2nd Season

It may only be halfway through it’s 1st season in the US, but The Good Fight, spin-off from The Good Wife, has already been picked up for a 2nd season, US network CBS have announced.

Set one year after The Good Wife finale, the new series, sees an enormous financial scam has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, Maia (Rose Leslie – Game Of Thrones), while simultaneously wiping out her mentor, Diane Lockhart’s (Christine Baranski) savings. Forced out of Lockhart/Lee, they join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s top law firms.

The Good Wife showrunners Robert and Michelle King are the people behind the show, which also brings back Cush Jumbo (Lucca Quinn) and Sarah Steele (Marissa Gold) from the original cast. Other new cast members besides Leslie include Delroy Lindo (Robert Boseman), Paul Guilfoyle (Henry Rindell), Bernadette Peters (Lenore Rindell), and Erica Tazel.

Interestingly, one of the possible reasons for the quick renewal may be due to the delay with Star Trek: Discovery. Both shows were commisioned for CBS All Access, the network’s subscription streaming service, but with Discovery delayed until the Autumn, that pushed up the The Good Fight’s release date.

“We’re only a few episodes into the first season and the reaction from CBS All Access subscribers and critics alike has been phenomenal,” commented Marc DeBevoise, President and COO at CBS Interactive. “This series and its characters are just beginning and we can’t wait to see where Robert and Michelle King, their creative team and the amazing cast take The Good Fight next.”

If you want to join The Good Fight, you will find it on More4 from the 30th March 2017 at 9pm.
