Marvel’s X-Men Based TV Show ‘The Gifted’ Gets Its First Teaser Trailer

by Dave Elliott

Fox have release a little teaser trailer for their new X-Men related tv show ‘The Gifted‘ today, and it’s looking pretty good!

Written by Burn Notice’s Matt Nix, the show follows Reed Strucker (Stephen Moyer – True Blood) and his estranged wife Caitlin (Amy Acker – Angel, Person Of Interest), who find themselves on the run from a hostile government after they discover their children have developed mutant powers. Searching for somewhere to lay low, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants, and must fight to survive.

In the trailer we see Natalie Alyn Lind (The Goldbergs, Gotham) as Lauren Strucker, demonstrating her powers to get snacks from a vending machine, much to the delight of her brother Andy (Percy Hynes White – Murdoch Mysteries, Between).

Much like the brilliant and mind-bending Legion, which airs on sister network FX in the US, Fox seem to be playing down the X-Men connection on the show, however, it does have a number of character torn straight from the comic book pages.

Jamie Chung (Once Upon a Time, Believe) is playing Clarice Fong, aka Blink, who we last saw portrayed by Fan Bingbing in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Emma Dumont (Aquarius) is playing mutant Lorna Dane aka Polaris, who has the Magneto-like ability to control magnetism. And Blair Redford (Switched at Birth, Satisfaction) is playing John Proudstar, aka Thunderbird who is leader of the mutant underground, and possesses superhuman senses, strength, speed, and stamina.

This is Fox US’s first new pick up for the Autumn season, so it’s too early to know where it may land in the UK. We will let you know when The Gifted finds a UK air date.
