Supernatural Is Getting A Scooby Doo Crossover (Yes You Read That Correctly)

Just when you thought ‘Supernatural‘ had done every ridiculous idea you can think of, they manage to pull another out of the bag… Yes, you read the title correctly. No, you’re not drunk (well… you might be, but you’re still reading that correctly!) Supernatural is getting a Scooby-Doo crossover next season!

To be fair, it’s actually a pretty natural fit. I have heard Supernatural being referred to as ‘Scooby-Doo for adults’ before… Now it literally is! The episode will feature Sam & Dean (Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles) in animated form, joined by the mystery solving Great Dane.

If this was any other show, I would be worried, and there would be talk of ‘jumping the shark’, but Supernatural has a history of doing these sort of episodes and pulling them off. For example…

‘Monster Movie’ where the whole thing is a parody of classic horror films. Or ‘Pac-Man Fever’ which saw them trapped in a video game… Then there’s ‘The Monster at the End of This Book’ where they discover there is a book series called Supernatural about 2 hunters called Sam and Dean (fandom of the Supernatural book series becomes an ongoing thing in the show). Or ‘Changing Channels’ where they were trapped in a soap called Dr. Sexy M.D… And of course ‘The French Mistake’, which smashes it’s way through the ‘4th wall’ and places the duo on the set of a show called ‘Supernatural’, where they are actors named Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles!

I mean, let’s face it, if any show can pull off a Scooby-Doo crossover, it’s Supernatural! The wacker it gets, the more I grow to love it.

Supernatural is currently airing Wednesday nights at 10pm on E4.
