Pulp Fiction Google Wave
Some days you stumble across something so geekily awesome it really has to be shared… Samuel L Jackson’s Exekiel 25:17 speech played out as a Google Wave… Geeky genius! Not only is it brilliantly executed (in every sense of the word), it also does a great job of showing off Google Wave’s features! Great job by the guys over at getwhirled.com.
(BTW, if anyone has a Google Wave access invite they’d like to send me i’d be most grateful!)
How Long Does Bill Murray Spend in Groundhog Day?
Here’s a question i’m sure you’ve been asking yourself:
How long does Bill Murray’s character, Phil Connors, spend living the same day over and over (and over and over etc…) in the the movie Groundhog Day?
Well, in the irregular series of posts we like to call ‘people with wayyyy too much time on their hands’, the folk ‘Wolf Gnards’ (subtitle ‘we nerd pop culture’… Yep, they really really do…) have figured out an answer!
The number? There are 36 separate days shown in the movie, but that’s really only the start… You have the various ways he tries killing himself, time to learn the piano, time to learn french, etc… I’ll let the people at Wolf Gnards give you the final result…

Back to the Future 1 and 2 Spot the Difference
Spotted this over on College Humor. I never realised, but for the opening of Back to the Future 2 they reshot the ending of Back to the Future 1 to tie the 2 movies together. The most noticeable difference has to be the haircuts!
Bobby McFerrin Demonstrates the Pentatonic Scale
Spotted this over on BoingBoing, and thought it was suitably geeky to post. A pentatonic scale is a musical scale with 5 pitches per octave in contrast to a heptatonic (7 note) scale such as the standard major scale. What’s interesting about the pentatonic scale is it seems to be pretty much universally ingrained on the brain, and is common across many many forms of music throughout the world. And Bobby McFerrin has an rather interesting way of demonstrating this to an audience.
