It’s the Enterprise Jim, But Not As We Know It!

Entertainment Weekly has posted a shot of the USS Enterprise from JJ Abrams‘ new Star Trek film. They’ve added a few more curves here and there, but i’d still say it’s recognisable as the Enterprise we know and love. I really like the tapered look to the nacelles.

A whole bunch of new images from JJ Abrams’ Star Trek have emerged onto the interwebs this morning!

This is apparently the bridge of the revamped U.S.S. Enterprise! “Abrams was insistent that every piece of equipment on the bridge serve a legitimate purpose — that they all have “functionality.” According to Lindelof, the maps we see in the background near the top of the communications desk were based on the generally accepted layout of the Star Trek universe.” (source)

This is apparently the USS Kelvin, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be boldly going for too much longer.

Kirk being very Kirk-like!

Very Cool Fan Made Dark Knight 3 Poster!

Don’t usually post fan art, but this is a pretty awesome bit of work for a Batman 3 teaser poster (i’d credit it, but i’ve no idea who’s done it!)

The poster’s creator is obviously pushing Riddler as the villain for 3, which would be an interesting choice. Especially if used more in his current DC Universe guise, where he’s playing private eye (maybe using one detective to catch another?..)

I’d also vote for the Mafioso business man (as oppose to the Tim Burton freak of the sewer) version of Penguin which i think would fit into Chris Nolan’s Batman.

WALL-E Movie Review

Well, yesterday I rushed to the cinema to see the highly anticipated Wall-E, Pixars latest movie, starring the cutest robot since Johnny 5.  Once again Pixar has made a masterpiece of a movie, beautiful animation that really stuns the viewer, coupled with an immersive fast paced story that keeps you involved right until the end.  I won’t go into details of the story, as too many review sites give away plots, but I will say that his movie is worth the hype, and more.  As with all Pixar movies, a short animated story opens the movie, and if you can watch that without laughing till your popcorn shoots outta your mouth and hits the poor people sitting in front of you, then I’d be amazed!

I loved this movie so much, that today I even found myself buying this (see image below).  A Wall-E figure that compacts to his box form and with a button push or two pops up lol.  First real big summer movie for me, I look forward to getting the Blu-Ray when its released.

Watchmen Trailer is Out in Glorious Quicktime!

This just looks… oh wow… I’ve not been this excited to see a movie since those early Lord of the Rings trailers! Visually, i’d say they’ve really nailed it, and Doctor Manhattan is just an amazing bit of visual effects work! I’m loving the little touches too, like the close up of inkblots just moving on Rorschach’s mask! Happy happy geek!
