Dave’s Comedy Society: Live is back with another extraordinary night of prestigious stand-up comedy and variety at the Bloomsbury Theatre in Euston on June 14th. The best comedy London town has to offer with one hell of a line-up! We’ve got one of the UK’s most prolific comedians, the critically acclaimed Richard Herring headlining; Jarred Christmas, one of the most talented comedy performers on the circuit; the most exciting sketch group in the country Late Night Gimp Fight; and multi-award winning stand up comedian, Carl Donnelly comparing. There’ll be dressing up boxes, old-fashioned photography, and a man on a penny farthing. Comedy as only Dave knows how. Moustaches optional.

Click here to book! – Tickets: £15, concessions £12.50

Bit more info about the Dave’s Comedy Society acts:

Richard Herring is an Edinburgh Fringe veteran whose cult status was elevated by television stardom in the 1990s as one half of Lee and Herring. His live performances have enjoyed mass critical acclaim, including his one-man Edinburgh shows Talking Cock, Someone Likes Yoghurt, Ménage a Un, Oh Fuck I’m 40 and The Headmaster’s Son. He’s also a highly accomplished writer and performer, penning and appearing in several critically acclaimed plays including Punk’s Not Dead and Excavating Rita. Recent television appearances include Genius (BBC Two), Have I Got News For You (BBC One) and Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC Two). “Herring is a superior comedian… hilarious” THE GUARDIAN

One thing’s for sure, you aren’t going to fall asleep when Jarred Christmas is on stage – he’ll bound onto the stage looking like an Elvis impersonator on his day off and he’ll keep you entertained from the word go. Recent television appearances include Mock the Week (BBC2), 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4) Argumental (Dave) and Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave). With 3 sell-out Edinburgh Festival shows and 10 years performing on the best comedy circuits in the world, Jarred takes the audience on a hilarious thrill ride of laughs and gasps with an edge of anger that manifests itself in his incredible rants against the small things in our lives. “One of the funniest men ever to pick up a mic. Some stand-ups are just born with funny bones, Jarred is a complete natural” TIME OUT

Late Night Gimp Fight - the most exciting new sketch group in the country: winners of the Chortle Award for best sketch show 2011; and Edinburgh Comedy Awards best newcomer nominee 2010, offer sublimely irreverent, carefully crafted skits that are unapologetic in their silliness. There will be fast-paced, dark and off-the-wall sketches and tightly choreographed musical set-pieces. “Sketch comedy doesn’t get much better than this” THE SCOTSMAN

Carl Donnelly, multi-award winning stand-up comedian from London, is our compare for the evening so prepare to be amazed by his sharp comedic timing and his incredible ability to turn the seemingly mundane existence of the 21st-century slacker into gripping, unmissable stand-up. Carl has recently appeared on such shows as Mock The Week (BBC), Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC 3) and Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave). “Excellent, fast-rising comic with pacy anecdotal routines” THE SUNDAY TIMES

Al Murray’s Compete for the Meat…

Al Murray

Al Murray’s Compete for the Meat

I’m beginning to think that there was some sort of pool running at the last light entertainment executives conference for the most ridiculous idea for a new quiz show they could get on air… Only weeks after the BBC launch ‘Don’t Scare The Hare’, the folk at Dave have seriously managed to ‘one up’ the Beeb with their brand new quiz show offering – Al Murray’s Compete for the Meat.

Yes, it’s a quiz show where the contestant’s compete to win a side of meat. In fact, i think it’s fair to say, it’s television’s only meat-based quiz show.

Brand new and exclusive to Dave, ‘Compete for the Meat’ sees Al Murray slip back effortlessly into his award-winning and legendary Pub Landlord guise for a brilliant (if somewhat ridiculous) pub quiz show.

The ‘steaks’ are high (sorry, that pun is the fault of the PR company), as the Guv’nor himself asks the questions to four teams of two, who play for the honour of taking home a frozen chicken and the accolade of being slightly smarter than the competition. Runners-up can expect to walk away with sausages, while the only thing the losing team can look forward to is a Slow Walk of Shame. Look out for some celeb guests too (although I rather suspect you won’t be seeing many A listers. ;) ).

You can join in the fun on by playing the ‘Compete for the Meat’ Facebook game, and win yourself a ‘frozen chicken’.

Al Murray’s Compete for the Meat starts Thursday May 19th at 9pm on Dave. (Sky channel 111, Virgin TV channel 128, Freeview 19)
