Welcome to GeekTown’s list of renewed and cancelled tv shows. We’ll update this as we get news, but If you spot a renewal, or would like information on a show’s status that’s not in the list, leave it in the comments, and we’ll see what we can find!

All shows are listed with the season it will be on if it gets renewed except the Cancelled/Ending shows which are listed with the season they finished on!

  8. Amyjane says:

hi on the show witch are unknown to be renewed for exampal secret circle sky living as a (down 1 ) what dose that mean is it that is going down the list as less likely to be renewed and also gutted bout ringer but chuffed as beans bout vampire diaries and supernatural

  9. Andrew says:

Southland, which I cannot see in any of the sections above, has been renewed for a fifth series.

  10. sumera says:

hey why is Ringer on life support?…i just saw last episode of it on sky living and really want a season 2 as there are still loose ends…and it is a fab show!

    • Dave Dave says:

I know sumera, I really enjoyed Ringer too. But it just doesn’t seem to be making the right numbers in the US, which is a real shame. I suspect it’s because it’s quite complex, and hard to jump into halfway through. Good show though.

      Cheers,
      Dave

    • Cathy says:

Just watched last ep of Ringer, really enjoyed this show and would have loved to see where they were going to take it in S2. Am delighted that Fringe has got a 5th season to tie it up, it really is one of my favourite shows..

  20. tronn lee says:

hi just wondering why unforgettable is so low i quite like the programme and according to viewing figures its gets pretty descent viewing figures many episodes in the 10/11 million region

    • Andrew says:

It may be considered not to have reached the broadcaster’s target figures, or be too similar in theme to any number of other crime procedurals currently showing

  21. mick says:

when will family guy season 11 be shown on bbc 3?

  22. Chris Rushworth says:

Do you think we’ll know if Alcatraz is canceled soon or will we have to wait till end of may?

    • Andrew says:

Chris, although there are usually some early announcements, now with less than a month to go it is unlikely there will be any more such confirmations before the upfronts.

Fox’s upfront is on 16 May so you won’t have to wait any longer than that.

  23. allison says:

hi, is fringe definately going to be a shorter, tie up loose ends series if it gets renewed?

    • Dave Dave says:

      Hi Allison,

No, It’s not confirmed Fringe will get a 5th season… shortened or otherwise. Their have been some misleading reports recently that make it sound like it’s confirmed, but there’s nothing official yet.

      Cheers,
      Dave

  29. Jacs says:

I believe Justified has been renewed for a fourth season, but I can’t see it on the list anywhere.

  30. Chris Rushworth says:

Have any shows that have been on life support In the past ever been renewed?

    • Dave Dave says:

Good question Chris. Generally no… However i *think* Fringe was on the life support list last year, and got picked up. Unfortunately, i can’t see that happening with Alcatraz.

      • daniel says:

        ill stop watching Alcatraz then?

        • Andrew says:

If you are enjoying it, why stop watching?

However, I already stopped watching Alcatraz (along with Unforgettable, which are both likely to be cancelled, and Grimm which has already been renewed) for the simple reason that I don’t enjoy them – I usually give a programme three or four episodes before deciding.

  31. Chris Rushworth says:

Game of Thrones has been renewed.

  32. Stacey says:

      • Dave Dave says:

        Hi Liz,

It was apparently doing so badly for 5, they pulled it. They are saying it should be put back on ‘later in the year’.

  40. Jen says:

Bones has been renewed for series 8

  41. Andrew says:

Bones has been renewed for an 8th season

  42. Andrew says:

It would appear that an agreement has not been reached with Netflix on Terra Nova and the show is now therefore out of limbo and into the bin, sadly.

    • Dave Dave says:

      No great surprise there…

I would like to know what happens in these Netflix meetings, as they seem to do this a lot – express an interest in continuing a we liked cancelled show, then don’t pick it up (SGU, Flash Forward, now Terra Nova).

I’m beginning to think Netflix sit down with a shows producers and the conversation goes, “So you’d like us to fund Terra Nova… HOW MUCH?!?.. Are you *sure* it wouldn’t work using dinosaur shadow puppets?”…

      ;) :D

      • Andrew says:

Ha ha ! There’s an image of Floella Benjamin telling the story of Terra Nova with Big Ted as Commander Taylor and Little Ted as Jim Shannon :)

I also read today that Torchwood may still be “revived” buy if I see the words “discussions with Netflix”, well…

  43. kelly says:

Hi is PERSON OF INTEREST ever going to be aired on a UK channel, thought it was going to be shown by SyFy, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore?

  47. Chris Rushworth says:

    Smash has been renewed

  48. Leigh-Anne says:

Hi do you have any news on The Lying Game? And you have The Secret Circle on 50/50 and on other websites it says likely to be renewed, just wondered which is right? thanks

    • Dave Dave says:

The Secret Circle is hard to call as it’s rating have been a bit iffy… I suspect it may move back up again though. Not sure on The Lying Game. I did get a 10 episode back order, so it’s looking like it may get a 2nd season. Will post if i get more.

  49. Andrew says:

Looking at this, if everything is “down 1″, there must be an awful lot of pilots on the horizon for the end of this year. Dave, is it too early for a pilot round-up like you did last year?

  50. Kelly says:

When will there be season 3 Nikita aired in the UK? I watched the first two seasons on Sky!
I’m near the end of season 2 of The Walking Dead, season 3 planned?

    • daniel says:

      Walking dead yes

    • Dave Dave says:

Hi Kelly, you’ve only seen season 1 of Nikita if you’re watching on Sky Living, as they aren’t showing season 2 till June/July this year.

Season 1 was split into 2 though, which is probably why you thought you’d seen 2 seasons. :)

  51. ciaran says:

The Vampire Diaries is on so is has been renewed however your website says it hasn’t been renewed you may want to change that :D

  52. Jamie says:

Any 1 no if unforgettable, csi new york and Nikita has any chance of getting renewed

  53. james a thom says:

When is chicago code back on

    • Dave Dave says:

Hi James, sorry to say that Chicago Code got canned too…

      • Andrew says:

However, its creator Shawn Ryan (also of The Shield and Terriers, the latter of which we are yet to see on these shores) is developing an interesting sounding story about a rogue US nuclear submarine.

  54. james a thom says:

Can you tell me if rookie blue is coming back on and also the chicago code is it on dvd yet and is hellcats coming back on as well.

    • Dave Dave says:

      Hi James,

Rookie Blue i’d expect back in Sept for season 3.

Chicago Code is showing no signs of appearing on DVD any time soon.

Hellcats was cancelled after 1 season.

      Cheers,
      Dave

  55. Chris Rushworth says:

Hart of Dixie is being shown on Really.
    Not E4

  56. Dave says:

Has Shameless US & Body of Proof being renewed?

    Thanks.

    • Dave Dave says:

Shameless US, yes. Body of Proof, no – and it’s looking like it may get canned, so brace yourself…

      • Dave says:

Thanks for the info, i’m only able to reply now.

I got to watch Alcatraz on Sky anytime, (good enough at the moment) as i was watching the very end (again) of BSG on the same date it finished 3yr ago (20 Mar ’09), but here’s a spooky coincidence as i was watching Alcatraz i noticed it closed down on the 21st Mar ’63!
If thats a good enough reason for watchin it!

Maybe if they had Christina Hendricks instead of Jeri Ryan on Body of Proof, things may have been different? heh!

Where do u find out about the shows, Down 1 does that mean from Danger Zone -> life Support.

Thanks & keep up the good work!

        • Dave Dave says:

Hi Dave, yep 1 down, means it’s moved down one category. Was just trying to give some idea to people which way a show seems to be moving. :)

  57. Andrew says:

Grimm has been renewed for second season

  58. Dave says:

Has Homeland being mentioned here yet? as i came across this http://www.tvwise.co.uk/2012/03/showtime-sets-premiere-dates-for-new-seasons-of-dexter-and-homeland/

That is early for those shows?

  59. Rolin says:

Any idea when Make it or Break it Season 3 is coming?

  60. daniel says:

Fringe will be in 50/50 for a long time

  61. daniel says:

Last time I checked Mike and Molly is not renewed yet but is almost

  62. Andrew says:

Luck, previously renewed for a second series by HBO, has now been cancelled. Too many horses were killed it would seem.

  63. Chris Rushworth says:

Why does the page say it was last updated in 2011.

  64. Jason says:

Can believe person of interest has not been picked up

  65. Andrew says:

In the UK broadcasters above: Suits is on Dave as opposed to Watch, and Once upon a time is on 5 as opposed to None.

  66. Andrew says:

CBS has renewed The Good Wife, both NCIS shows, Hawaii 5-0, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, Person of Interest (which we still don’t have yet), original CSI and The Mentalist.

Apparently it is now pretty much a given that at least one of CSI Miami and New York will be cancelled.

  67. daniel says:

Blue Bloods has been renewed for a third season over in the states

  68. charly says:

Does anyone know if army wives is going to come back to the uk?

  69. daniel says:

Nikita’s future is uncertain says WB

  70. Andrew says:

Terra Nova rumoured to be cancelled, at least as far as Fox is concerned, and I really must grumble. Yet another show that ends just as I am getting into the mythology of the thing and is not given the chance of any kind of resolution. It is the Event or FlashForward all over again.

I can understand the raw financial reasoning for it – ratings=$ and that is really all there is to it. But the ratings system in America is clumsy – it doesn’t seem to keep up well with new technology such as PVRs and internet streaming. It also doesn’t appear to pay any attention to viewership outside the USA.

And DVD / BD / online rentals and sales can often account for a great deal too. However, I for one would probably not rent or buy a TV show I knew had been cancelled without being given a proper ending. It’s like paying to go to the cinema and then leaving half an hour before the end.

So the process of renewals and cancellations requires an update. It surely cannot be outwith the realms of possibility to time these decisions such that the writers have sufficient time to end the show properly. Any initial losses incurred through a few additional episodes perhaps, would surely be recovered in later sales of discs and online media.

    Grumble over. As you were.

    • Bouncy Castle says:

I’m with you on the “cancel and leave ‘em hanging” grumble. Thankfully, SyFy caved in and gave the makers of Eureka one eppy to wind it all up.

Sorry old sausage, it looks like Tera Nova has been given the old heave ho.

      http://www.deadline.com/2012/03/fox-cancels-drama-terra-nova-series-being-shopped-to-other-networks/

However, it is being offered to other networks, so there’s still a bit of hope.

    • Dave Dave says:

I am rather disappointed, as Terra Nova was one of the few genuine, all-out, sci-fi shows still on TV.

What amuses me though is Terra Nova is cancelled by Fox, but the production company… Fox… say all is not lost as they are going to try and sell it on to a new channel… whom i’m assuming won’t be Fox… Hey, maybe Sky would like to fund it… ;)

  71. Kim says:

    Hi,
Could we have some info on The Booth At The End? This was a brilliant show and I’d love to see it come back!

    Thanks,
    Kim

  72. Kim Jenkins says:

    Hi there

do you know if there is any news on eurka & alphas both great shows ?

    Thanks

    • Bouncy Castle says:

Syfy has ordered another 13-episode round of Alphas for summer 2012.

Sadly, they cancelled Eureka last year, giving them one episode to clear up all the loose ends.

      I’m gonna miss Fargo.

  73. Andrew says:

I was just reading an article on White Collar season 4. In the UK we haven’t even had season 2 yet. A very similar situation to Breaking Bad, which is arguably a far superior show.

There is probably no point adding either of those to the list, how about Leverage (we are on season 3 but I’m sure USA has already had 4 and is waiting for news on 5), and Homeland?

I’d be quite frustrated if a short final season of Fringe cost Alcatraz its renewal, because in a years time we would have neither!

  74. Andrew says:

Second seasons of Alcatraz and The Finder also now in the danger zone.

  75. Andrew says:

Second seasons of Ringer and The River now unlikely – Danger Zone.

  76. jason says:

I Love fringe i really really hope its not cancelled yet

  77. Peter says:

Cannot see the following series on your list above for renewals/cancellations Dave.

    Any chance of adding them?

    The Lying Game 2 5*
    Happy Endings 3 E4
    Being Human 5 BBC3
    Cougar Town 4 Sky Living
Game of Thrones 3 Sky Atlantic
    Sanctuary 5 Watch
    Fairly Legal 3 Universal
    Episodes 3 BBC2
    Smash 2 Sky Atlantic
    Apartment 23 2 E4
Hit and Miss 2 Sky Atlantic
    Justified 4 Five USA
    Person of Interest 2 SyFi
The Killing US 3 Channel 4

    Thx in advance

  78. Nicole Zach says:

How likely is it that Sanctuary will be renewed for a 5th Season? I tried so many webpages but couldn’t find anything.
    Is was aired on SYFY

  79. Cassidy says:

Anything on The Lying Game or The Secret Life of the American Teenager?

  81. Leigh-Anne says:

Hi, do you know if The Lying Game will be renewed for another season?

  82. Callie says:

can’t believe how low the CSIs are :( I’ll be really upset if any of them get cancelled, especially the original. But great news on Big Bang Theory, Criminal Minds, The Office & Glee!

    • Dave Dave says:

      Hi Callie,

To be fair, the CSI were all that low last year and still got renewed. The issue with long running shows tends to be actor salaries V ratings, but on shows like CSI the cast tends to rotate a bit (people come and go), so it’s less of an issue. Plus CBS has to find something to fill the time with if they dump the CSIs, which also an issue. It’s just a case of wait and see, but I wouldn’t be too worried. :)

      Cheers,
      Dave

  83. Dan says:

Hi guys – new to this site, so please forgive me if you have some info that I don’t. Haven’t ABC said they aren’t cancelling PAN AM? You’ve got it as cancelled ending season 1 but nothing has been confirmed by ABC yet as to whether its renewed or not?

    • Dave Dave says:

Hi Dan, it’s a fair point. The general consensus is that ABC have cancelled it, but they’re not saying they’ve cancelled it so they can still sell the advertising slots on it. Think it will be a massive shock to everyone if it gets a 2nd season.

      Cheers,
      Dave

  84. Anthony says:

    Hi.
Just wondering what’s going on with The Big Bang Theory series 5 on E4? (UK).

  114. Nicola says:

    Hi there

Following the last post – what is going on with Channel 5 at the moment? Will we definitely be seeing a return of CSI and NY this month or will stupid Big Brother take over instead!!! And also, when will the next episode of the mentalist be on it looks like that isn’t on this week either?

    Thanks :-)

  115. Liz says:

Hi just wondered if anyone knew if csi new York and las Vegas will be showing a new series in the uk. I can’t beleive they even thinking about cancelling!!! I’m addicted!!!!

Also has anything happened to ‘the event’ I really got into it and it’s not been on again???

    Thanks :-)

    • Andrew says:

      Hi Liz

We are unlikely to know about CSI cancellations until April but New York and Las Vegas each have at least one more season, and they normally begin here at the end of January.

As for the Event, please see below, below and discussion on the other page. It was one of the most unpopular cancellations last time round and, despite earlier rumours to the contrary, does not appear to have been resurrected by another channel.

  116. Tash says:

Will Chase series 2 be shown in UK?

  117. Damon says:

Surely there is going to be a Terra Nova season 2?Do you know if there will be a The Chase season 2 on SKY in 2012 as well?

  119. vickahh says:

    Heyy,
Can you tell me if CSI:NY will be starting again on channel 5 (uk) in the forseable futuree like 2011/ or the ending of 2012

    Thanks (:

  120. Mark Wilson says:

OMG surely Harry’s Law isn’t about to bite the dust? Love the programme and thought it a perfect fit in the increasingly impressive Universal stable ? Anyway, just wondered, are you aware if Rescue Special Ops season 4 is likely to be picked up again by Universal ? I mean, we must know if Lara and Deano get it on, or not, it’s important ! Cheers, Mark

    • Peter says:

Sorry Mark, the Ozzies cancelled Rescue Special Ops after the 3rd series.

I agree it will be a shame if Harry’s Law does get cancelled as is looking likely.

      Same with Pan Am.

  121. chloe says:

When is seasn 8 of desperate housewives being shown in the UK?

  122. ChrisDuffy says:

    Hi.

Has Haven been picked up for a third season??

  124. Paula says:

I loved Better of Ted with Portia di Rossi – but I’ve only seen 2 seasons on FX. Will it be back or has it been cancelled? Great site, thanks for such brilliant recommendations.

any news on damage season 4 yet on sky 1??

    many thanks

  127. Andrew says:

ABC appears to have cancelled Pan Am but seems unwilling to confirm with new episodes still to air.

  128. chelsea says:

Really hope gossip girl gets and 90210 gets picked up for another series!! I’m still pissed about hellcats been cancelled after one season. So I might have a break down if there not.

  129. Paul says:

Do you know if the will be any more Bedlam on Sky ???

  130. Brian says:

According to Broadcastnow Person of Interest’s been picked up by Syfy.

  131. a collington says:

will private practice season 4 be showed in the uk

  132. Andrew says:

Spartacus has been renewed for a season 3.

Dave if it’s not too pushy, might I suggest you show the season numbers above. With some shows there is an awfully big gap between us and uk airings so it’s not always clear.

For example, body of proof is in the danger zone above. But even if it is cancelled, on our little island we will still get season 2. On the other hand, if Fringe, which is also in the danger zone, were to be cancelled, we in uk would not get any more.

So I wonder if noting the season numbers would help bring some clarity?

  133. Dave says:

is ‘The Walking Dead ‘ going to return to C5?? Or is it yet again going to be a Sattelite only programme as have been the case with so many other good shows?

    • Dave Dave says:

Hi Dave, i suspect Channel 5 will buy The Walking Dead season 2, but as it’s only just airing in the US and on FXUK, it’ll be some time next year before they get it.

      Cheers,
      Dave :)

  134. Andrew says:

    Dave

Info is beginning to trickle in for the 2012-13 season so I wondered if that might warrant a separate page before it gets too messy and confused on this one?

For example, Sons of Anarchy has been renewed for a fifth season (even though we only just finished the third), but Fringe is looking increasingly unlikely to get a fifth.

  135. Charlotte says:

Do you know if/when the Lying Game is coming to the UK? Will it do what Pretty little liars did and go to mtvuk? Please let me know as im desperate! Thanks :)

  136. Reenie says:

Hi, Any idea if The Game will be shown in the UK?.

  137. honeyk says:

Does anyone know when the next series of Raising Hope is to be screened on UK TV please?

  138. Bouncy Castle says:

I have never been so upset at the cancellation of a show as I was when I heard that Eureka had been cancelled.

Not even when I heard that Angel had been cancelled, and I love me some Spike!

I’m totally addicted to Eureka, and constantly watch the DVDs. It really is annoying that they see fit to release the DVDs in .0 and .5 formats. Having had to wait forever for 4.0 to be released, no doubt they’ll release 4.5 sometime before the end of this century.

    Grrr.

  139. David Hawkins says:

Hi do u know if the uk has picked up the lying game from abc family it is a show from the people who did pretty little liars your help would be appreciated thanks

  140. a stevenson says:

can you advise when THE GOOD WIFE Season 3 kicks off in UK.
    thanks

  141. Denise says:

Hustle- is this right that the next will be the last series?

Hotel Babylon – don’t remember BBC ever stating that after the last episode aired that it would be the last ever? Will it come back – I loved the programme!

Glad to see Nikita coming back – got quite hooked on it!

    • Dave Dave says:

      Hi Denise,

Hustle – Series eight will be the ‘last for at least a while and the last with the current cast’ according to the show’s creator. Not totally surprising given Marc Warren is doing So it may come back in some form at some point, but it is basically ending.

Hotel Babylon – It wasn’t stated at the time, but yes, it has definitely been cancelled.

      Cheers,
      Dave

  142. DannyC says:

Will flash-forward be returning or has that also had the chop?

  143. Knight says:

I heard Southland Series 3 was airing in the UK this month – it is not listed anywhere does anyone know if it is being shown on this side of the pond anytime soon ??

  144. Chrissy says:

Hi all, I’m still speechless about Flash Forward being cancelled. (I know it’s been a while but still)

Are you sure the Vampire Diaries are going to be on ITV4 and not ITV2?

  145. John Sturdy says:

A few days ago I could’ve sworn I saw something about a remake of Saphire & Steel but when I went to wikipedia to find out more all I got was info on the original show which I’ve read before. Anyway I’d love to see this if it comes off but I’ve been thinking, I’d also like to see them do a remake of another old show called Murder Mystery & Suspense. Anybody elss remember that one? The New Twighlight Zone series from a couple of years ago didn’t last nearly long enough for my taste & while they’re at it how about The Fall Guy? or even Airwolf? I mean why not they did it with Knight Rider, though strictly speaking a follow on not a remake. Oh another one remember Streethawk & my old fave the Equalizer?

  146. John Sturdy says:

Whatever happened to the Dresden Files? That was a fantastic show Oh & any word on a Uk air date for No Ordinary Family sreies 2?

    • Dave Dave says:

      Hi John,

Not good news for you i’m afraid…

Dresden Files – cancelled by Scifi Channel after 1 season.

No Ordinary Family – Also cancelled after 1 season, this time by ABC.

      Cheers,
      Dave

      • John Sturdy says:

Thanks for the update Dave I pretty much figured about the Dresden Files to be honest given the amount of time thats gone by but on other sites most people are still hopeing for a renewal of No Ordinary Family I know at least a few hundred or more peple are gonna be gutted to hear otherwise. & you can deffinately count me & my older brother Mark among them, he was watching it online direct from America I think, I know he was ahead of British vewing on Watch. Still thanks for letting me know will break the bad on the other sites.

  147. Clare says:

I cant believe they’re cancelling Human Target – this show is fantastic, it has everything! Gorgeous guys and girls, great plots and actually some fab acting – why have they done this to me :-(

    • Andrew says:

Because American networks seem to have short attention spans. And they are businesses that need / want to make lots of money and the data upon which they make these decisions, I believe, represents a small percentage of American tv viewers and does not take into account a show’s popularity outside America, or DVD sales, or online viewing or pvr recordings. The decision making process almost always seems to preclude any discussion on how good or interesting that show might be, in my humblest of opinions. I’m sure someone will be able to correct me if any of that is wrong.

    • Dave Dave says:

      Hi Clare,

A show getting cancelled has very little to do with if it’s any good or not. It’s to do with whether the network can sell the advertising space in the show. It’s annoying. It’s an outdated system. It doesn’t work in these days of online viewing and PVR…

But… it’s how the US TV industry do it, because they seem to still be clinging to the hope that all this fancy internet stuff and allowing people to record shows will somehow magically disappear one day, and we will all go back to watching shows live, like we did in the good ol’ days… Until they figure out a way of making money out of a show in a way other then the traditional ‘ad buy’ model, i’m afraid we’re stuck with them cancelling decent dramas, whilst we have to suffer more and more reality tv…

      (Longer explanation here http://www.geektown.co.uk/2011/05/02/why-was-my-scifi-show-cancelled/)

      Cheers,
      Dave

  148. mel says:

HI GUYS OKAY LOOKED ON THE RENEW/CANCELLED

IS HELLCATS GETTING RENEWED OR IS IT GETTING CANCELLED?

  149. Matt says:

So they have cancelled half the stuff i watch yet again. I am really getting sick of studio who suddently decide to cancel a show on the wim of some ratings, half the time they cancel them before they are even show in any other country than america and in regards to some tv show firefly being a prime example you need one season to get people talking about it and word of mouth to spread and its the second season that brings in the ratings, if they would have just gone of the rating for the first season of the wire then that would have been canceled but thankfully they didnt and word of mouth spread and it became a hit. for me shows should be given a contract of atleast two seasons and regardless of anything the wtritters should be told if it is being cancelled before the last season so they can write an ending (las vegas is still annoying me)
what is the point in even making a show if you cancel it after one season. i would say rant over but i am sure there will be more to come when they cancel another show i like.

  150. riggers says:

Can you tell us what’s happening with Slingers?

    • Dave Dave says:

No more news on Slingers yet i’m afraid… As far as i’m aware, it still has yet to be picked up, but Mike and the folk at Sleepydog are still working on it though, so it’s not gone away. Developing TV shows sometimes just takes a while! :)

  151. Jaxcat says:

  157. julian says:

    Hiya
Does anyone know if Leverage season 3 will be shown on any other sky channel? Cannot find any information any where .

  158. Andrew says:

Apparently Syfy is in talks to continue The Event, initially as a miniseries, so it may not be technically cancelled after all.

  159. Peter Chilton says:

any news at all anywhere about season 3 of The Listener?

season 2 just finished on FX and i cant find whether its been canned or renewed.

  160. julian says:

    Hiya
Does anyone know when the final season of smallville will be shown on E4

  161. melissa says:

yeah hi em what does it mean 50/50 cos one tree hill is in it so what does that mean it may get cancelled? and the crinimal minds is it getting cancelled or not cos up there it is then its coming up for a new season?

  162. Andrew says:

The Mentalist, CSI Miami and CSI Vegas all renewed.

  163. Andrew says:

    Good news.

Nikita has been renewed for a second season.

  164. Andrew says:

The good wife has been renewed.

  165. Andrew says:

Criminal Minds spinoff “Suspect Behaviour” has been cancelled.

    CSI NY has been renewed.

  166. Georgia says:

I think Blue Bloods got renewed. If you could confirm it that would be great!

    Thanks

    Georgia :)

    • Andrew says:

Georgia. Yes. CBS has yet to make an official statement, and although some people prefer to wait until they hear it from Nancy herself, both Blue Bloods and Hawaii 5-0 have been renewed. They do like their police procedurals over at the Eye, with all three CSIs likely to be confirmed this week too.

  167. lotts lotts says:

I have to say that i’m absolutely gutted that Human Target has been cancelled. It was a refreshing change from the endless cop and doctors shows. At least I still have Supernatural, Chuck, Leverage and White collar to keep me going.

I think i’m going to stop watching anything Fox show as they seem to axe all the great stuff…..I still haven’t forgiven them for dropping Firefly.

But did the Execs at these companies ever think their figures dropping could have something to do with their erratic scheduling? If I lived in the US I would struggle to keep up with all my favourite shows, what with all the breaks, of course I could series link them, but wait those figures don’t count towards the actual ratings!!!! it’s a vicious circle.

    Rant over.

I hope the new Aaron Sorkin show doesn’t get dropped a quickly as Studio 60 and they actually give it a chance as his writing is always a breath of fresh air.

    • Andrew says:

Lotts you are absolutely right. The Neilsens come under fire for a lot of reasons – not taking into account all media and representing too small a group being some of the contentions. Some would argue that the results are wildly inaccurate – just ask the Irish. But the US networks use them. Advertising revenue is one of the main drivers. Beyond that, trying to understand the vagaries of US network programming is beyond mere mortals.

      • lotts lotts says:

remember the days when we only had 4 channels, life was so much simpler and we didn’t even know what was being shown/axed in america so we were none the wiser. :-P

I’m just learning to treasure the box sets of the shows I do love whether it’s 1 season or 10.

  168. Ryan says:

oh wait, yeah The Defenders, Mad Love and $#*! My Dad Says have been cancelled

  169. Ryan says:

Also you forgot Raising Hope for the renewal list, on Sky1

  170. Ryan says:

Actually, Mad Love, $#*! My Dad Says, The Defenders and Hellcats have not been canceled in the US.

  171. Andrew says:

    The Defenders cancelled.

    Mad Love cancelled.

  172. Andrew says:

S**t my dad says is cancelled

  173. Kirsty says:

Well thats pretty much all the shows i’ve been watching. i was going to start watching The event but i guess i won’t bother now. You have to ask is it worth starting to watch any new series that comes from the US? They seem to cancell them all half way through.

    • Andrew says:

Kirsty. You make a very valid point. There are some very long running shows like CSIs, Bones and House, but there does seem to be a weighty preference to generic procedurals and most half-decent serials always seem to be at risk. Must be something to do with attention spans.

The question you ask is very interesting and I was pondering the same thing. If a show is still running when it is cancelled – Outcasts, No Ordinary Family, Lie to Me – is there any point continuing to watch? For me, mostly no. I lose interest. Exceptions are where the cancellation comes BEFORE the final season and the writers have a chance to create a logical conclusion. Hustle, 24.

I’d be interested to hear anyone else’s opinion on this.

PS by the way, the Event IS worth watching from the start when the DVD comes out and there is an outside chance of its survival at the hands of America’s version of LoveFilm, oddly.

      • Kirsty says:

I agree that should they have chance to actually write an end then it is worth watching as it reaches a finish and we get closure. However yes it does seem pointless to keep watching if it’s merely going to cut off at some point.

There do seem to be some very short attention spans out there at the moment and everyone wants imediate gratification, they don’t want the story to build up over several episodes they want it all in their face bang at the beginning of every episode. It’s as if they don’t actually want to watch the program and think about it, but to sit there and have it wash over them in a nice easily absorbed parcel. Do you get what i mean? So anything that takes a few episodes to get where it is going doesn’t stand a chance in the current viewing climate.

The only shows that tend to have long life spans apart from the few surviving quality shows like bones etc are cop shows, always in fashion it seems and those cringe worthy reality shows that i really can’t bear. People just can’t help but watch the train wreck of other peoples lives. Oh and don’t forget the gross/crude humour shows.

I was relieved to see Haven has made it to a second series along with warehouse 13. If The Event has a chance of a future and is worth a go then i’ll track it down and watch it. Thanks for the tip :)

  175. Andrew says:

    Hawaii 5-0 renewed for a 2nd season.

  176. jason says:

looks like ashton kutcher will repalace charlie sheen in two and a half men

  177. NEIL ARMSTRONG says:

ONE WOULD COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAN HALF THE US IS VIOLENT CRIMINAL AND THE REST ARE COPS IF THE SHOWS REPRESENTED REALITY IT WOULD CERTYAINLY HAVE ALIENS CONFUSED.

  178. Andrew says:

Hellcats and Chase cancelled. That is every show from the Danger Zone and Life Support section, except Defenders, gone.

    • Dave Dave says:

On the plus side, do I win something for being accurate? :D

    • melissa says:

why why why is hellcats cancelled? why dont they just cancel everything for go sake, whats the point in puting a good programme on where it has great reviews great ratings of people watching and what do they say oh well just axe it throw it in the trash what we getting instead thing where we have no intrest and possibly only 1% of people watch them but that **it gets to stay totally unfair

      sorry about the rant
      :)

  179. Andrew says:

Good day for JJ Abrams. Second pilot – Person of Interest – commissioned for a series. And Treme has been commissioned for a third season.

  180. Andrew says:

Finally some GOOD news. Body of Proof has been renewed for a second season.

  181. Andrew says:

Chase is cancelled. But that is a surprise to nobody.

  182. Andrew says:

No Ordinary Family and Detroit 187 also cancelled. It’s a bloodbath today.

    • Dave Dave says:

Can’t say I’m surprised about No Ordinary Family. I enjoyed it, but it was getting sillier by the episode. Shame about V, but again, no great shock… Oh well, we can only hope they are going to replace them with some interesting new shows, and not a bunch of reality tv rubbish.

      • Andrew says:

Dave. Something about a Tim Allen comedy is what I heard. Sigh…

      • Tommy says:

Apparently, the “Charlie’s Angels” reboot has been ordered to series by ABC, and I for one, hope that’s true. I am loving the “Hawaii Five-0″ reboot and I would love a “Charlie’s Angels” reboot. Maybe this can be ABC’s way of apologising for cancelling “V”! ;)

Also, “Happy Endings” was renewed for a second season by ABC.

        • Dave Dave says:

Charlie’s Angels reboot is from the guy that did Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Could be interesting, although there a distinct lack of Summer Glau for my liking. ;)

  183. Andrew says:

V has been cancelled. Despair, disappointment and frustration.

    • CastorTroy81 says:

Just heard about V. Well at least I know they won’t cancel many more of the shows I watch. Mainly because a lot are cancelled already.
Looks like USA and CW are the only reliable networks. Now if only someone here would show USA shows within a reasonable period of time. Like season 5 of Psych was finished over there before Season 4 even aired here.

    • NEIL ARMSTRONG says:

ITS A SHAME BUT ANYTHING REMOTELY INTELLIGENT OR MENTALLY CHALLENGEING NEVER GET WATCH.
      BLOODY COP SHOWS I DISAPIR.
AS MY AUNT SAID AMERICANS ARE LIKE THEIR NEWS PAPERS “THICK”

  184. CastorTroy81 says:

    The Event has been cancelled.

And Chuck’s Season 5 will be the last.

    • Dave Dave says:

Thanks Castor. Not unexpected about The Event.
I do love Chuck, but I think it’s for the best. And at least they *know* it’s is ending this time, so they can write a proper close to the show.

    • Andrew says:

Castor, that news is almost as disappointing as the Firefly cancellation. Or it was, until I heard the rumour that its producers are in talks with at least one other broadcaster for a continuation without NBC. Fingers crossed.

Outsourced and Brothers and Sisters have also since been cancelled.

      • Tommy says:

“Outsourced” and “Brothers & Sisters” have NOT been cancelled…yet.

        • Tommy says:

“B&S” has NOW been cancelled… As for “Outsourced” it probably will get canned, but no announcement has been made yet.

        • Andrew says:

I guess if one is waiting for the official spokesperson then that is technically correct. But sadly that extra few days, or extra hour in the case of B&S, doesn’t change the end result.

  185. Peter Chilton says:

    New pilots/shows:

Hail Mary (Minnie Driver crime drama in American South)
American Horror Show (Horror series from makers of Glee)
Dallas (new generation of old series)
Wilfred (Australian smash pot-smoking dog series)
Black Jack (Comedy Central’s retired Special Ops comedy)
    Thunderballs (beer league bowling team)
    Titanic (4 part mini series)
Underemployed (MTV slacker meets girl comedy)
Touch (Kiefer Sutherland is father to autistic son who can predict future)
Wild Card (USA’s new witty Las Vegas drama)
More As The Story Develops (Aaron Sorkin’s long-gestating drama set behind the scenes of a nightly cable news show)
World Without End (Mini series period drama set in Black death times)
Labyrinth (Ridley Scott’s mini series of a young girl caught in the Crusades massacres)

thats all i could find so far:)

  186. Andrew says:

    Dave
    Some more pilots for you:

    Smash – Spielberg’s “Glee”
Playboy Club – about a gentleman’s club in 60s Chicago
Awake – scifi attempt from Lone Star creator
Grimm – dark police / fairytale crossover

  187. Peter Chilton says:

    What about:

The Booth at the End (season 2)
Breaking Bad (season 5) (even though we are still waiting for season 3!)
    Bedlam (season 2)
    Zen (season 2)

    Thx

  188. Andrew says:

For the new shows it is beginning to look like 2011-12 is the season of the remake following on from the relative success of Hawaii 5-0. Pilots for wonder woman, teen wolf, charlie’s angels and, I can hardly bring myself to say, Dallas. Thus far only Teen Wolf has been picked up, a 12 episode season airing at some point in the UK on Living. Actually, I enjoy V and quite enjoy the new 5-0 so fingers crossed some of those are half decent. There is also Alcatraz to add. No UK channel yet

  189. Andrew says:

Fox has also renewed Family Guy, NBC has picked up Wonder Woman but cancelled Law and Order LA, and Sky1 has renewed Mad Dogs and is currently shooting Idiot Abroad 2

  190. Andrew says:

Fox has cancelled Lie to Me, Human Target and The Chicago Code and has picked up Alcatraz and The Finder, the latter being a Bones spinoff I think.

  191. Andrew says:

Fox has renewed House for an eighth and, according to Hugh Laurie, last, season.

    • Dave Dave says:

Yeh, i saw that report… I’ve put it in as renewed rather than cancelled/ending as it’s not officially confirmed as ending (although if Hugh has decided he’s had enough, that pretty much ends it!)

      • Andrew says:

Dave, unless we get a “wilson” spinoff! By the way, would it be too much trouble to use the same red colour in this page for latest updates, like you do on the other page? It would certainly help me spot new stuff at a glance.

  192. jon says:

    Hi

I saw on the other page that Lie to Me will resume on june 2nd in the UK – has this definitely been confirmed? I’ve been hovering around for what seems like months now waiting on it to restart lol…

    Cheers

    • Dave Dave says:

Yep Jon it’s confirmed. It’d be a lot easier if the US just admitted They’re running 2 short seasons for most of their shows now, so we wouldn’t have all the confusion of putting season 3b or season 3 (continued) for shows like Lie To Me. ;)

  193. anthony says:

    hi

has two and a half men actually been confirmed as renewed?

    • Dave Dave says:

I believe so yes… Although what form it’ll actually take, as it’ll be minus the winning Mr Sheen, is anyone’s guess!

  194. julian peck says:

    Hi All
Does anyone know if Stargate Universe will be renewed for another series? I have read on web sites that the SYFY Channel will not be renewing it for another series, but nothing definite.

    • Dave Dave says:

Nope, it’s cancelled. SGU is very dead at this point. The whole Stargate franchised has stalled at the moment, although i’d expect it to come back in some shape or form in the not too distant future.

  195. [...] started this post as a reply to a comment on the new Renewed/Cancelled Shows page, but it was getting so long i decided to turn it into a post instead! Denise (the commenter), [...]

  196. Ruth says:

    Hi All

Does anyone know if Channel 4 is planning to run Brothers and Sister Season 5??

I know it’s on More4 but I missed the start!!

  197. Denise Danks says:

Would love to see The Event being brought back, but I cannot see this as C4 are persisting in putting it on later and later! What’s the use of a show being aired at 12.05 after midnight??!!

    • Dave Dave says:

Hi Denise, I started writing a reply to this, and it turned into a post :D

    • CastorTroy81 says:

You’d love living in Ireland then. Here we have tv shows like Smallville, Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone airing on RTE (Our national broadcaster) at between 1 and 3 in the morning. Not repeats either. Would be the latest eps, sometimes just a week or 2 behind the States. Then to make matters worse, they are useless at keeping to the correct time, so if Sky plussing, have to record the programs either side to be sure you get the whole thing.
Apparently they buy the rights just to stop TV3 (privately owned) getting them and then broadcast the shows at stupid times just so they can say they air them. Of course they could do something really crazy and air them in the primetime slots instead of the constant Friends repeats, but that may involve smart thinking so I won’t count on it.

They do sometimes air shows before the UK so I get to see them sooner so not all bad. Like they’ve finished Royal Pains season 2 and Camelot starts next week. But still not worth the licence fee.

      Rant over

  198. Andrew says:

Dave this is great- like the headings! Chicago code is sky 1 though, and csi miami and vegas are on 5, as is the mentalist. Brings it home that a lot of the shows I enjoy are in danger zone or life support !!

    • Dave Dave says:

Thanks Andrew, that’s updated. I’m never sure which channel has first run of the CSIs as they seem to be everywhere!

I know what you mean about the Danger Zone/Life Support sections. To be fair, Chuck is always in the Danger Zone due to it’s figures, but usually get’s picked up anyway. I’d be really sorry to see Lie To Me or V go too. I rather enjoyed No Ordinary Family and The Event, but both have pretty bad figures in the US, which is why they’re in Life Support.

What I am missing is info for UK shows at the moment, but I’ll try to add those in as I find them.

      • Andrew says:

Dave, given the coverage, you can safely say Doctor Who will be renewed ! From the US, Boreanaz has confirmed Bones 7, so likely it will show up (well “part one” of the season) on Living in November-ish.
