Couple of Notes on Commenting…

TIPS FOR POSTING It is always extremely helpful when people post dates, times and information below. It is useful in keeping the list as current as possible and makes for a great community spirit. But when posting, please remember the following:

1) Use full programme titles. As instantly recognisable as abbreviations may be to someone who watches that show, to someone who doesn’t, it is just a meaningless collection of letters that have to be looked up.

2) If a bit of information is a rumour, please say so – we can list it as such, pending confirmation

3) If something comes from a reputable source, please quote that source, so we all know it is not just a rumour.

Thank you.

Anybody have any update on how Conviction stands? Series 1 episode 12 was shown last week, but no sign of episode 13 this week. I know that Conviction has been the subject of much conjecture if it would even reach a second series. So, is it on a mid season break, or if has reached the finale of Season 1, will it be coming back for Season 2? Any info much appreciated.

Could you ever possibly do a list of films premiering on tv?

    0
    • Andrew Andrew says:

In theory, yes we could. But premiering where? Pay TV ? Premium movie channels? Regular terrestrial? As ever if there’s sufficient demand we could look into it, but logistically it’s less likely to work.

So over to you- what say you, dear readers?

      0
      • Josh says:

It would probably just be main channels (the BBCs, ITVs, C4, C5, Sky Movies) because they’re normally the ones that have network premieres for films. It would be great to see what films are coming!

how can supergirl and flash be on a tuesday week after each other at 8

    0
    • Sophie says:

It’s not going to be on at the same time. If you click on the page for Supergirl, you will be a TBC sign and it means that the show hasn’t been 100% confirmed yet so it will be changed considering that Supergirl has been shown to be on at the same time as The Flash. It will probably be changed to a different day considering that Supergirl is normally on a Monday.

Okay, as of right now, it seems Supergirl and Flash will be airing Tues, from the 31st Jan at 8 & 9pm. Legends & Arrow will be on Thursdays from the 2nd Feb at 8 & 9pm. Seems there maybe an interesting new acquisition coming in Weds (just waiting to confirm…)

CMT is just one of all the American channels that Sky (the British satellite platform) doesn’t have. 0
  110. Dave Elliott Dave Elliott says:

    Just to clear this up.

The dates that were above relating to Flash/Arrow etc… were based on what Sky have done in previous years. However, given the announcement at the end of Flash, it does seem they are bringing it back in Jan, and as Danny pointed out, that has to be the 31st if it stays on Tues, as that’s the only day it can be. If the continuity announcer was correct, that will *probably* put Supergirl on the 30th, with Arrow on 1st Feb and Legends on the 2nd. It is possible Supergirl will start the week after though, depending on the US schedules.

It does also mean we’ll probably have another break at the end of Feb/March, as CW have skipped at least 2 to 4 weeks every year since Arrow began around that time. That’s usually why it’s usually a month late back over here.

I’ve updated the list to reflect the new info. Sky are now saying Arrow & Legends for Feb, so the exact dates may change, but it is looking like Supergirl/Flash end of Jan, Arrow/Legends start of Feb. 🙂

    Cheers
    Dave

Interesting. Yes, that is possible, although I *think* there’s only one other crossover, and that’s the Flash/Supergirl musical episode, so they may be okay leaving them where they are.

Nashville was cancelled but shopped around and Season 5 is being made by and shown on CMT in the States. Starts January sometime over there. No idea if Sky have the rights in the UK but given the amount of time they held off on season 4 it seems to be timed to be finishing not long after the US CMT premiere,

        • Amy says:

I contacted Sky back in December to enquire about whether or not they would be continuing to show Nashville considering the channel switch, and they stated there was no plan for them to show it after season 4.

There aren’t specific places where shows from any given US network tend to end up here – that would be too easy! 157. A few early January dates on the main (BBC/ITV) programme info. pages:

ITV’s big new 8-part drama The Halcyon – set in a glamorous London hotel during WWII starts on Monday 2 January. Slightly surprised as I thought this would be a Sunday night drama.

Also on ITV the return of their excellent crime drama Unforgotten. That’s on Thursday 5 January.

The other highlight for me (reported by The Killing Times) is the return of No Offence to Channel 4 on Wednesday 4 January.

The BBC has a couple of returning stalwarts: Silent Witness on Monday 2 January (continuing on Tuesday) and Death in Paradise on Thursday 5 January.

        0
        • Dave Elliott Dave Elliott says:

‘Prison Break’ hasn’t been picked up yet… I’m sure it will be.

Sky had the original series (eventually), and had the previous seasons on recently as box sets, but that’s not a guarantee… Channel 5 had the first couple of seasons before Sky nabbed it off them (by paying £500k per episode!), so they may want revenge. 😉

It’s distributed by ‘Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution’, but that doesn’t automatically mean it’ll go to Sky or Fox in the UK. It’ll go to whoever offers the most money.

          0
    • Dave Elliott Dave Elliott says:

Yes, as Andrew says, here or the homepage are the best places to see what’s been picked up. There isn’t a specific date shows are picked up by. Hi Kieran,

All syncs up perfectly, as Sky said it would. Although they aired in a different order in the US, they skipped some weeks which we didn’t, so it’s now all back in sync.

Supergirl “Medusa” 12th Dec which starts the Invasion arc.
      Flash “Invasion!” 13th Dec

  176. Vivi says:

What do you think are the chances your Tory government and corporate overlords will let you watch “Incorporated” in the UK? Judging by the pilot, the plot is a mix between “Gattaca” and “Brazil”, highlighting the evils of unchecked capitalism, but it also gets big plus points from me for being the first piece of mainstream scifi I’ve seen that really takes climate change and resource limitations seriously, instead of presenting yet another conveniently unrealistic scenario for society’s collapse — e.g. zombies, alien invasion, ridiculously deadly pandemics, etc. I’m betting it will be cancelled quickly, just like the recent “Minority Report” series, which despite not being full-blown dystopian scifi, also dared to make some minor references to climate change effects. But while it’s still allowed to be on air, it should be ‘required reading’ for anyone under 35.

By the way, your description makes “Van Helsing” sound like a Buffy clone. It’s really more like a somewhat more feminist version of “The Walking Dead”. With no hesitation to kill off characters, or otherwise suddenly dropping them out of the story. The US/Canadian version is down to just 2 ‘good guys’ by now, and it’s only been like half a season.

And regarding “Frontier”, it might be helpful to add that unlike your usual North American historical drama, the story is largely told from the perspective of the Natives. That is, there are many more European characters than Native ones, but except for the teenage audience-identification character who fulfills the same role as the Doctor’s Companion and who looks like he just wandered in from a nearby vampire romance series production by mistake, every last white, male character is an awful human being motivated by greed, misogyny, or in the least awful case: alcoholism. Even the gay couple will happily murder a disrespectful business rival. Whereas the Native characters seem to be basically decent people driven to distrust and violence out of grief and rightful anger. Considering that even the liberal-leaning “Murdoch Mysteries” almost completely ignores the Candian Native nations and their treatment by the European colonizers, and considering that Jason Momoa hadn’t played heroic characters in a while, this came as a positive surprise to me. Though this focus, and the equal focus on a female tavern owner / smuggler trying to survive on her own in a man’s world will probably mean an early death for this series, just like the recent Canadian Western series “Strange Empire” that also focused around Native oppression, women, people of colour, and sexual / gender minorities, and got cancelled after the first season for its trouble. Then again, “Frontier” is co-produced by Netflix, who seem more willing to invest money in this sort of niche show than traditional TV broadcasters.

    0
    • Andrew Andrew says:

Just curious…. why “required” reading as opposed to optional – do you find that most folks require being told what to read, by their overlords perhaps? And why is 35 the arbitrary cu-off point, as opposed to 25, or 65?

Hi Annie, Which episode number is it please? I am way behind but recording episodes on catch up and on Alibi. However On catch up, the synopsis never gives the episode number and the description is different to the one if you are watching it or recording on Alibi.

Many of catch up programmes do this, and it is very difficult to keep track if the episode numbers are omitted and the title of the episode also.

      Hope you can help. Thanks.

      • Middie says:

Dragon is listed as episode 3 in IMDB etc. but Alibi have aired it as episode 7 (which they claim is the right place). I’ve just caught up myself and plot-wise there’s no spoilers or anything to worry about with whichever place you put it, but in my opinion, the team relationships seemed less progressed in Dragon.

    0
    • Katie T says:

Conviction hasn’t officially been cancelled yet but ABC have announced that they aren’t ordering any more episodes for season one. Given it’s ratings in the US and the fact it hasn’t been given extra episodes like the likes of This is Us,Designated Survivor and Speechless have,it makes it very unlikely that it will be renewed for season two

      0
      • MartyM says:

I’ve been quite surprised that Sky Living have been giving Conviction so much publicity, including constant trailers and street posters, when it has been pretty obvious that the show wasn’t going anywhere. I always think that if a channel cannot make the trailer look good there’s something wrong. And from the extended trailer that was shown earlier in the year it looked terrible, and the US ratings have confirmed that view.

        0
    • Dave Elliott Dave Elliott says:

Yes, not officially canceled, but it’s extremely unlikely it’s going to come back. It’s practically impossible for a show to return if it doesn’t get a full season pick up in its first year.
