Pilot For New X-Men TV Show Inches Closer

As we mentioned way back in July last year, Fox US is in the process of developing a new X-Men tv series, having given it a ‘put pilot’ commitment. A ‘put pilot’ is a good sign, as it basically means it costs Fox a LOT of money if they don’t pick up the show.

The new show is being created by Burn Notice’s Matt Nix, with Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory exec producing. It focuses on a family who find themselves on the run from a hostile government, when the parents discover their two children have mutant powers. The only way to save themselves it by joining an underground network of mutants and fight to survive.

Early drafts of the script have apparently been very well received at Fox. They are expecting the final draft and a pilot pickup to come in the next few weeks.

This isn’t the only comic book show heading to Fox US. They also have X-Men related title Legion due this season, which airs on Fox UK, Thursday, 9 February 2017 at 9pm. Additionally, on the other side of the comic book fence, they have a Black Lightning pilot in the works, based on the DC character being developed by DC tv master, Greg Berlanti. However, if it goes to series, with this being on Fox and all the other Berlantiverse shows on CW, it’s extremely unlikely we will see them crossover.

We’ll keep you updated with more news on the ‘as yet untitled’ X-Men series, and the Black Lightning series as we get it.
