Joss Whedon returns to TV with a show based around Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. organisation. Returns Jan in the US, but due to the wacky way the US schedule things, Channel 4 have decided to hold it till March to take out all the US scheduling breaks – I know this will annoy some people, but as we’ve said many times, the UK broadcasters get complaints either way, so deciding to air it without breaks is a valid choice. UK fans are advised to stay clear of any US-pace information until its return here.

Similar to Marvel’s Agents of Shield in that it is set in the superhero world without the superheroes, this is essentially Batman without Batman. However, it does feature a young Bruce Wayne and a number of the well-known Batman characters such as the Penguin, Catwoman and the Riddler.
Vampire Diaries spinoff returns for a second outing
The term “modern-day retelling” doesn’t always fill me with delight, especially when coupled with the resurrection of a long-dead character. However, the forces behind this particular modern-day retelling with resurrection of title character are Kutzman and Orci – the geniuses behind Fringe, so in this case delight is in abundance!

The show has already been picked up for a total of 100 episodes, and the plan is to basically run solidly for the next 2 years – only breaking for holidays, sports events, and the other usual things that make the US schedule so erratic. They are saying it’ll work out about 45 episodes a year from Jan 2013. Not sure how that will be split that into ‘seasons’, as it’ll basically be on every week! Sky Living seem to be competing with Channel 5 for the ‘Award for upsetting the most fans’, as they’ve now dropped Supernatural – confirmed on their website. DVD for season 9 isn’t officially out in the UK BUT Amazon has a Supernatural Season 9 on Region 2 import on DVD out now. Season 9 can also be bought on US Import Blu-ray which i’m told is multi-region (despite what it says on Amazon). Lastly Season 9 is on Netflix US, which you can get legally using a DNS Switcher like Unlocator.
