How We Picked The Shortlists
You may be looking at the list below thinking “Why isn’t X TV show/movie/game on there?”… There are 2 reasons for this.
Firstly, we can’t have every show/movie/game released this year on the list, so we had to cut it down. This was done by getting the Geektown staff to vote on a “long list” and make suggestions until the list was a more manageable, “shortlist”, size. I’m sure some of you will have opinions on our shortlists, so feel free to add your comments below on this page.
Secondly, eligible shows/films/games need to have premiered or been released in the UK between 1st Dec 2024 and 30th Nov 2025.
Competition Rules
The winners of the Annual Geektown Awards are determined by public votes cast on geektown.co.uk from the shortlists selected by the Geektown staff.
Anyone can vote, BUT to win the prize you:
Must be based in the UK (including Northern Ireland).
Must be over the age of 12 to enter (those under 15 will need parental consent to receive the prize.)
There will be 2 winners picked from valid entries using the form on this page – one for the main prize, and one for the runner-up prize.
The competition closes on 26th December 2025.

Most anticipated movie of 2026 for me is The Bone Temple, don’t care for any of the movies listed.
Riot women should not be in comedy
Surprised South Park didn’t make the returning animated show list, the new series is really funny, and pushing back against their leader with some astonishing stuff!
I love riot women but it is NOT a comedy
There’s no option for one of categories to select “I’ve not watched any of these”, so I picked 911 only because it was top of the list.
There doesn’t seem to be an option to opt out of the prize. If I win, feel free to redraw it. The prizes don’t appeal to me.
BREAKING BAD !!!!! CMON
tough to choose my favourite tv of all time, so many to choose from! good luck to everyone, merry xmas!
Love Geektown and the awards. I was late to The Diplomat…it is fantastic, vote for it now!!!!??
Amazing. Thank you
Filled all out but wouldn’t submit!
No entry form showing
For All Mankind
side-eying all the not-remotely geeky programmes on the list
The Expanse series was excellent, final series was not great so understand why it was shelved
Game of Thrones
No love for Yellowjackets or Chucky on the shortlisted option. Shame.
The second season of Yellowjackets was such a disappointment. I loved the first, but this wasn’t nearly as interesting
Brilliant !
some hard decisions in some of those categories but answered honestly, got my fingers crossed
What a shame I can’t enter, well one those who could
Wouldn’t let me enter!
AS Sue McMurray. Total waste of time as would not let me enter.
Wouldn’t let me submit!!
Terrible choices for Best British TV show. I didn’t want to choose any of those.
Also some categories you have to vote but I’m not excited about any of the 2023 shows listed, and especially not ones that aren’t being broadcast in the UK
Not for me, I don’t watch British shows, even though I am British.
Some great shows out there at the moment
Hard choice to make, but hey ho did my best answer honestly.
If you’ve watched the Orville, you’ve already voted for it. If you haven’t watched the Orville, go watch it then come back to vote.
Orville is the best show last year that didnt have Andor in the title
I didn’t know they were making fallout into a TV series. Fun!
Thanks for this, love doing it every year. 1 request though… any chance we can have some MMO’s in the game choices! cheers
There is no none of the above for most anticipated show of 2023 like there is on the rest. None of them sound much cop to me but I had no choice but to pick one.
First, thanks for doing this. Second, maybe archive the comments from years ago (I was going to respond to a comment about no Legends of Tomorrow until I saw it was from 3 years ago). Finally, I take it no Doctor Who due to ardent fans’ predilection of calling in ringers to vote.
Dam i wish we could vote for more than one on each category ?
Wow! You didn’t make it easy.
To me from the ‘short list’ those who voted for these seem to be watch most of the same type of programs, so what about the rest of us? most of my answers were ‘not seen any of these’, list was not diverse enough.
Come on Supernatural #WinchestersForever Carry On Wayward Sons
Some rather hard choices.
Hard choices there, some missing but can’t have all shows or films
That was hard to choose from top list ??
Great list of nominees, love the show too. The Queens Gambit was the main omission for me on the limited series category, but you can’t include them all. Cheers
tHE qUEENS gAMBIT WAS BRILLIANT
Was The Good Place not nominated because E4 stopped showing it half way through or because it was on Netflix in 2019?
It’s because it was on Netflix in 2019. The shows have to have premiered on UK tv in 2020, and The Good Place premiered on Netflix. The E4/4Music run was a second run not a premiere (I do also love that show though!) :)
Favourite tv show, I couldnt decide between Battlestar Galactica or The Golden Girls!..Number Six won over Dorothy Zbornak :)
Missing Warrior from the list, closest thing to Game of Thrones since Game of Thrones!!
Honorable mention to Lovecraft County & Cobra Kai (cheesy but feelgood)
It was good doing this
Even if I don’t win, it’s been fun to participate.Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.
Shame legends of tommorow not on list, it’s brilliant
Anyone who hasn’t seen Happy yet get on it trust me once you’ve watched it (even if it looks a little weird) it will be getting your vote!!!!
Considering Dave’s love for the Good Place and the fact I think that is the only Comedy I watch – can my vote go to that :)
Great competition but a couple of the categories have a list programmes that I haven’t watched any of so how can I pick the best? This means I cant complete the poll. You could do with having ‘none of the above’ as an option too :)
Best TV show in my opinion was The Haunting Of Hill House, and Brigette Lundy-Paine who plays Casey (the sister) in Atypical is the definite stand out female performance.
Geeks shall inherit the Earth! Incredible giveaways – good luck to all
Nice prizes for whoever wins
