New TV Trailer: Da Vinci’s Demons
Da Vinci’s Demons comes from David S. Goyer (writer of Man of Steel, and co-writer of Chris Nolan’s Batman trilogy), and what it loses in historical accuracy, it makes up for in swashbuckling action and magic! Describing the show as ‘historical fantasy’, it takes place in 1490’s Florence, where the Renaissance polymath Leonardo da Vinci is portrayed by Tom Riley (Monre, Bedlam) as a genius inventor, shaping the future of the world. Goyer has said of the show “I didn’t want to do Ye Olde Historical Drama; I wanted to do something historical, viewed through a modern prism… Da Vinci is kind of superhero-y, there are so many legends and tall tales about him.” So that maybe gives you some idea of the sort of show it’s going to be!
Other cast includes Laura Haddock (The Inbetweeners Movie, The Colour of Magic), Lara Pulver (Sherlock, True Blood, Spooks), Eros Vlahos (Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang), and Elliot Cowan (Ultimate Force, Sinbad).
Da Vinci’s Demons premieres on Starz in the US on April 12th 2013, and will air on Fox UK (FXUK) over here some time after that.
