‘Lucifer’ SAVED! Netflix Picks Up Series 4!

It’s fair to say, the devil is hard to keep down! Lucifer has been rescued for a 4th Season by Netflix it has been announced this evening!

There has been a bit of a bidding war going on behind the scenes regarding the supernatural drama, as Amazon, who carried the first 3 seasons in the UK, and their rival Netflix battled it out for control. Netflix finally won out. The cancellation by Fox last month came as a shock to fans, who became very vocal online to vent their frustration. It seems their wishes have now come true.

As I mentioned, the rights for the show, both in the US and internationally, have been rather all over the place, so making a deal has been a complex process. Hulu held the second run rights after Fox in the US. Amazon aired the show in the UK. Along with airing on Netflix in the US, it’s believed the streaming service will take over the series in most of the international territories, including the UK.

Based on characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg, the series follows Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis – ‘Miranda’), the original fallen angel, who has become dissatisfied with his life in hell. Retiring to L.A., he inadvertently teams up with an LAPD detective (Lauren German – ‘Chicago Fire’) to help punish criminals… Can the Devil incarnate be tempted toward the side of Good, or will his original calling pull him back toward Evil? Fans of the show will remember Season 3 ended with a dramatic (if long-awaited) reveal.

If you’re a fan of the show, we interviewed Aimee Garcia, aka loveable lab geek, Ella Lopez, for Geektown Radio a few weeks ago, which you can listen to here.

Oh… and on one final little point… Netflix are apparently talking about picking up ‘Designated Survivor’ too (although that isn’t a done deal yet…)

So expect to see Lucifer‘ Season 4 land on Netflix UK at some point in the not too distant future.
