‘Star Trek: Picard’ Premiere – Red (Or Rather, White) Carpet Interview Video & Photos

by Dave Elliott

Last night was the London Premiere for the hugely anticipated Star Trek: Picard series, which premieres Friday, 24th January 2020 on Amazon Prime in the UK and Thursday, January 23, 2020, on CBS All Access in the USA.

Not only did we get to see the first episode of the series (which is embargoed, so we can’t talk about it… however, I think can say you will not be disappointed…) but with some help from the lovely Bex from TristaBytes, we also got to interview some of the cast!

Stars in attendance and walking the red, or in this case, white, carpet included Sir Patrick Stewart, Isa Briones, Michelle Hurd, Jeri Ryan, Evan Evagora, Harry Treadaway, and Jonathan Del Arco. Also appearing were Executive Producers/creators Michael Chabon, Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, and Kirsten Beyer.

Whilst we didn’t manage to catch Sir Pat on the carpet, he did comment on stage later “In a sense, I feel like I’ve been preparing to shoot Star Trek: Picard for the last 30 years. He has a quality about him, unlike any acting experience I’ve ever had. The last thing I wanted or needed was to return… Two days later 35 pages turned up and I was [he sighs] hooked… They were talking about a vision of Star Trek I had never imagined before.”

We did manage to chat with Isa Briones (‘American Crime Story’), who plays a mysterious new character, Dahj, along with Michelle Hurd (‘Blindspot’) who stars as Raffi Musiker, and Harry Treadaway (‘Mr. Mercedes’, ‘Penny Dreadful’) who plays Narek. We also got to chat with some older Trek hands as we caught up with Jeri Ryan, aka Seven of Nine, Jonathan Del Arco, who plays former Borg drone Hugh, and said hello to ‘Discovery’ star Jason Isaacs, who was there supporting his fellow Trek cast and crew. Lastly, we had a lovely chat with creators/writers and EPs Michael Chabon & Kirsten Beyer. You can watch all the interviews in the video at the top of the article.

The new Star Trek series features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his role as the venerable Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on ‘Star Trek: Next Generation’. The series will follow this iconic character in the next chapter of his life.

As you can see in the trailer below, Picard is heading off on an epic journey with a new crew, and we do know that this won’t isn’t rejoining Starfleet after his retirement. The new cast helping Jean-Luc includes Alison Pill (‘The Newsroom’) as Dr. Agnes Jurati, Harry Treadaway (‘Penny Dreadful’) as Narek, Isa Briones (‘American Crime Story: Versace’) as Dahj, Santiago Cabrera (‘Salvation’) as Cristobal “Chris” Rios, Evan Evagora as Elnor, and Michelle Hurd (‘Blindspot’) as Raffi Musiker.

The show also features some old faces to go along with the new ones, with Jonathan Frakes (Riker) Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), Jeri Ryan (Seven Of Nine), and Brent Spiner (Data) all making appearances.

Star Trek: Picard‘ premieres Friday, 24th January 2020 on Amazon Prime in the UK and Thursday, January 23, 2020, on CBS All Access in the USA.
