Netflix Signs Multi-Year Production Deal With ‘Big Mouth’ Animation Studio Titmouse
Netflix has cemented it’s relationship with ‘Big Mouth’s Titmouse, as the streaming service inks a multi-year production deal with the award-winning animation studio to produce multiple original adult animated series.
Titmouse are the award-winning animation production company behind shows such as ‘Venture Bros.’, ‘Big Mouth’, ‘Superjail!’, ‘Black Dynamite’, ‘Tigtone’, and ‘Metalocalypse’. This marks an expansion of the relationship between the two companies, which have partnered on several adult animated series, including critically-acclaimed and Emmy nominated ‘Big Mouth’ from Brutus Pink and upcoming series ‘The Midnight Gospel’ from Pendleton Ward and Duncan Trussell.
“When Netflix asked if we wanted to go steady, we were thrilled. When we asked if it could be an open relationship, they said, ‘Yeah, of course. It’s the 21st century, kid. That’s the only way we’ll have it.’ Now we are friends with benefits and I couldn’t be more stoked,” said Chris Prynoski, Titmouse president and founder. “This new and exciting relationship will help quench our relentless thirst for producing animated cartoons. Excuse me, I’m gonna go carve NF+TM on a tree now.”
Based in Los Angeles, New York City, and Vancouver, the animation studio employs over 700 of the most talented people in the industry, which (according to the press release they “are guaranteed 100% human”…) Under the terms of the deal, Netflix will also have a first look at adult animated series developed and created at Titmouse.
One of those new series is ‘The Midnight Gospel’, from ‘Adventure Time’ creator Pendleton Ward and comedian Duncan Trussell. The series centres on Clancy, a spacecaster with a malfunctioning multiverse simulator who leaves the comfort of his home to interview beings living in dying worlds. The series is set in a fantastical universe using interview clips from Trussell’s podcast, Duncan Trussell Family Hour.
