First Picture Lands Of Tom Holland As Nathan Drake In The ‘Uncharted’ Movie

Actor Tom Holland today released the first image of his new role as Nathan Drake in the upcoming ‘Uncharted’ movie, along with a few other shots of the upcoming film.

The film sees Holland play a younger version of the iconic treasure hunter from the Naughty Dog video game as he begins his life-long journey of discovering ancient mysteries and artefacts. Holland’s partner in crime (somewhat literally) for the film is Mark Wahlberg, who takes the mentor role of Victor “Sully” Sullivan.

In addition to the photo of Holland, the wonderful Nolan North, the OG video game Nathan Drake actor, posted a few more photos, including one of him and Holland taken during a set visit.

“Like looking into a mirror! Proud to have Tom Holland continuing the Drake legacy! Absolutely smashing it! Thanks for the set visit!!” commented North on the pics. Naughty Dog then retweeted the pics, adding “Find someone who looks at you like Nate looks at Nate.”

The other two pics feature a book on Francis Drake, and what looks to be a sword acting as some sort of key to an elaborate locking mechanism. Whilst we don’t know anything about the film’s story at the moment, we have seen a younger version of Drake and Sully in 2011’s ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’. During a section of the game, the player takes control of a 14yr old version of our hero as he searches a museum in Cartagena, Colombia, looking for the ring belonging to his ancestor, Sir Francis Drake. It’s whilst trying to pilfer the trinket, he first meets the man who becomes his mentor, and partner in crime, Victor “Sully” Sullivan.

In addition to Holland and Wahlberg, the film stars Sophia Ali (‘Grey’s Anatomy’) as Chloe Frazer, with Tati Gabrielle (‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’, ‘The 100’) and Antonio Banderas in undisclosed roles. The movie is directed by Ruben Fleischer (‘Venom’, ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’) with a script from duo Matt Holloway & Art Marcum (‘Iron Man’, ‘Morbius’).

‘Uncharted’ is currently set to premiere in cinemas in 16 July 2021 (although, given the state of things at the moment, that could very well change!)
