Frontier Developments has announced the Oceania Pack DLC for their fabulous building/management game Planet Zoo, alongside another free update which expands the base game, which will land later this September. Here’s what to expect in the Planet Zoo: Oceania Pack and Free Update 1.15.
As the name suggests, this pack includes animal species from the Oceanian continent, i.e. Australasia, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. The new creatures you can introduce to your zoo include, from the lush forests of New Zealand, the curious Kiwi and further in the islands, the energetic Tasmanian Devil. Heading along the South Coast of Australia you’ll find the Little Penguin, and if you take a hike to Rottnest Island to discover the adorable Quokka giving you their best smile. Lastly, we have a new exhibit animal, the striking Spectacled Flying Fox!
This also looks to be a great pack for you builders out there, as it features 200 scenery pieces inspired by the rich traditions of Polynesia, including things such as intricately carved Tiki Statues, straw huts and colourful Flower Leis. You can even admire the diversity of the islands with the addition of impressive volcanic rock and glow-in-the-dark faux lava, along with distinctive foliage that inhabits the islands, such as the beautiful N?kau Palm and the radiant Silver Fern, emblematic of New Zealand.
The Oceania Pack also delivers a new Career Scenario, as we welcome back Bernie’s daughter, Emma Goodwin, as she works on a very special project in the Oceanic region, focusing on conservation. You’ll be helping her fix up the place, add some infrastructure and making sure plant diversity is on point. You’ll also help establish a breeding program to make sure all the wonderful species that are unique to the region are around for generations to come.
Update 1.15
As always, a new pack release comes alongside a new free game update, and this one has a really cool new feature… Viewing Domes!
Guests will be able to enter these Viewing Domes in the habitat via an underground network without any need for a path or tunnel, so they can enjoy an extra close-up view of your animals through the safety of the glass. To activate this feature, just place a Viewing Dome entrance on the habitat barrier and then place your Viewing Dome anywhere inside the habitat. They will automatically be connected to your dome gate and you can place multiple domes in one habitat… and yes, you can even place them underwater!
In addition to that big new addition, there are a number of “quality of life” features in the update too. These include adding brachiation behaviour for the Bornean Orangutan; New Melanistic, Leucistic, Brown, and Xanthic colour morphs for the King Penguin from the Aquatic Pack; And lastly, a new Temperate Oceania biome for you to enjoy in all modes.
