Charlie Brooker’s incredible drama series Black Mirror returns on the 21st October 2016, and today Netflix released a new trailer, giving us our first glimpse of season 3.
Described by the New Yorker as “The Twilight Zone for the digital age” Black Mirror is an anthology series which tears apart modern society, taking a dark satirical look at what hides beneath the surface.
Each show has a different cast and story, but commonality in tone. Often the setting is a near future, posing questions about how we use technology now, and where it could be going. The show taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.
This is the first season to run exclusively on Netflix after Channel 4 were outbid for the first broadcast rights. At 6 episodes, it’s also the longest season to date, nearly doubling the number currently in existence.
Black Mirror Season 3 will stream on to Netflix, 21st October 2016.
