A recent update on the status of The Hobbit from Peter Jackson confirmed the unfortunate news that Rob Kazinsky, who was cast in the role of Fili has had to leave the project and return home for personal reasons. Jackson went on to say “Rob has been terrific to work with and his enthusiasm and infectious sense of humour will be missed by all of us.”
The Hobbit has already started filming, however they’re mainly shooting Bilbo (Martin Freeman) without the dwarves at the moment, so they have some time to find Kazinsky’s replacement.
Fili is the older brother of Kili (Aidan Turner), and is a nephew of Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage). It’s a real shame for Rob, but it’ll be interesting to see who they find to replace him.
