The folk at SFX posted this nice little ‘Meet the Stars’ video for the upcoming Primeval: New World, which starts on WATCH, Tues 8th January 2013 at 9pm.
Primeval: New World is a Canadian spin off from UK’s Primeval tv show. The basic premise is similar (a bunch of people tracking anomalies which are portals to the past and future), but the tone is a little darker than it’s predecessor, although keeping it’s comic edge. Reminds me somewhat of Stargate in that respect.
It’s an all new cast, although there are some cameos from familiar faces (watch the video below…) ;) Niall Matter (Zane Donovan in Eureka) takes the lead as Evan Cross, a software engineer who encountered an anomaly 6 years ago, and has been tracking them ever since. Sara Canning (Jenna Sommers in TVD) plays Dylan Weir, an expert in predatory behaviour and Danny Rahim (Young James Herriot, EastEnders) is their firearms expert Mac Rendell. Crystal Lowe (Vala in Smallville) is Toby Nance, their Techy. Miranda Frigon (Danu in Sanctuary) is CFO of Cross’s company ‘Cross Photonics’, and Geoff Gustafson plays Lieutenant Ken Leeds, government contact and head of Canada’s UFO study Project Magnet (Canada did actually have a real Project Magnet in the 50s!)
