Sky 1 HD today announces it has acquired the exclusive UK television rights to the post-apocalyptic drama series THE LAST SHIP. The series will join the channel’s portfolio of US drama, including hit US series ARROW, MODERN FAMILY, GLEE, HAWAII FIVE-0, NCIS: LOS ANGELES and 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY.

From blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay (Transformers), and based on the best-selling novel by William Brinkley, THE LAST SHIP is an action-packed military thriller starring Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy) and British actress Rhona Mitra (Strike Back). The series has already been renewed for a second 13-episode run.

The 10-episode series opens with a global pandemic that has nearly decimated the world’s population. After four months of radio silence in remote Antarctica, the crew of the U.S.S. Nathan James is heading home with microbiologist Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra), the only person who might hold the key to stopping the virus. But the crew and its captain (Eric Dane, Grey’s Anatomy) must wrestle with the reality of their miraculous existence in a world where they are among the few remaining survivors. Their last mission is the world’s only hope – stay alive until a cure is found, for our future, our families and for all humanity.
