If you’ve been listening to Geektown Radio for the last few weeks, you’ll be aware we’ve been talking about the imminent arrival of the tv show OUTLANDER to Amazon Prime ‘seriously, we need a shorter name’ Instant Video on the 26th March.
I thought it might be good to give you a bit of a round up about the show, and what to expect, so let’s start with the trailer!
What is Outlander about?
The show starts, with army nurse Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), on a second honeymoon in Scotland with her husband after World War II. Unfortunately for the young couple, Claire manages to step through an ancient standing stone circle and wake up in 1743… Scottish rebels save her from an assault by a royal army captain (who happens to be her husband’s ancestor), but the rebels carry her further into the Scottish highlands. She’s then forced to marry Jamie Fraser (is it me, or did that escalate quickly!), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, igniting a passionate relationship that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
Based on the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon, the show was created by RONALD D. MOORE, the man behind the re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica.
The drama is filmed at locations across Scotland, featuring a British & Irish cast, and is the winner of this year’s People’s Choice Awards for Favourite Cable Sci Fi/Fantasy TV Show. The show has an 8.8 out of 10 IMDb rating and has already been renewed for a 2nd season.
