Broadchurch Series 3 Returns in 2017

Broadchurch Series 3 returns for a final season in 2017

ITV’s mega-hit Broadchurch stars shooting this Summer and will see David Tennant & Olivia Colman return as D.I. Alec Hardy & D. S. Ellie Miller for a final outing, this time to investigate a serious sexual assault.

Joining the cast for major roles in Series 3 will be Young Bond author & member of ‘The Fast Show’ Charlie Higson, Coronation Street & Happy Valley star Julie Hesmondhalgh, Sarah Parish from Atlantis & W1A, Georgina Campbell (most recently seen in E4’s Tripped and Sky 1’s After Hours), and Mark Bazeley from Home Fires (and the voice of the male Sith Warrior for you SWTOR players!)

Previous returning cast include Legends of Tomorrow and Doctor Who star Arthur Darvill as Vicar Paul Coates, and Emmerdale’s Carolyn Pickles as newspaper editor Maggie Radcliffe. Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan are also returning as Beth and Mark Latimer.

Broadchurch has been a massive success for ITV, so I’m sure they will be pulling out all the stops for its return next year. “This is the final chapter of Broadchurch,” said writer Chris Chibnall. “We have one last story to tell, featuring both familiar faces and new characters. I hope it’s a compelling and emotional farewell to a world and show that means so much to me.”

“Broadchurch has been an important part of my life and I am so delighted and privileged to be working with Chris and the team again as we embark on the very final series,” said exec producer Jane Featherstone. “We will return to the town and characters we know so well as they find themselves caught up in a new and compelling story which will test the strength of the community and the people who live there, and will, I hope, be a fitting end to this trilogy.”

Broadchurch Series 3 will air in early (we suspect) 2017.
