PREACHER Coming Exclusively to Amazon Prime UK

by Dave Elliott

Today, Amazon announced that the much anticipated show PREACHER will come exclusively to Amazon Prime Members in the UK, Austria, Germany and Japan from the 23rd May, with subsequent episodes launching on Mondays from 6th June, only a day after they premiere in the US on airing on AMC. We had feared Preacher, would end up on AMC Global when it hit the UK, but thankfully that is not the case.

Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s much-celebrated comic book, PREACHER is a supernatural, twisted and darkly comedic drama that follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, played by British actor Dominic Cooper (WarcraftAgent Carter), who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power. Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth NeggaAgents Of S.H.I.E.L.D, World War Z) and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy (Joseph GilgunThis Is England, Misfits) come together and when they do, they are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

The show is produced by Seth RogenEvan Goldberg (This Is The End, Superbad, Bad Neighbours) and Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) serves as showrunner.

Preacher is one of the most ambitious and highly-anticipated new series of the year, and exactly the kind of show we want to bring our Prime members around the world,” stated Brad Beale, Vice President of Worldwide Television Acquisition for Amazon. “Sitting alongside shows like The Man in the High Castle, TransparentMr Robot, Fear The Walking Dead and the upcoming Clarkson, Hammond and May show, The Grand Tour, Preacher is another great addition to our line-up and we think our customers are going to love it.”

Prime members will have access to the pilot episode from Monday 23rd May. The second episode will launch on Monday 6th June, the day after it launches in the US, with all new episodes launching weekly on Mondays thereafter.
