Jamie Bell’s American Revolution drama Turn: Washington’s Spies will be ending after it’s 4th season it has been revealed.
The show, which comes from AMC, and airs on Amazon Prime in the UK, tells the story of the Culper Ring, a group which helped turn the tide of the American Revolutionary War in the 1770s.
“Turn: Washington’s Spies has always had a lofty goal – to tell the real story of the American Revolution from the ground up,” comments president of original programming and development for AMC, Joel Stillerman. “Craig Silverstein, Barry Josephson, and their incredible team introduced us to the Culper Ring who have reminded us that without human intelligence, the war may have had a very different outcome. We are excited to see this story of betrayal and rebellion, and the sacrifices therein, through to completion in a fourth season.”
Whilst Turn’s audience figures weren’t huge, it has been a reasonable performer for AMC. It also helps that the show is owned by the network, and creator/EP Craig Silverstein has an overall deal with the network, so allowing them to conclude their story is a sound decision.
I am so pleased to be able to bring the story of the Culper Ring to its epic conclusion,” said Silverman. “At the point where the revolutionary war ends and the great American experiment truly begins. This series has been a joy to work on.”
The final season of Turn: Washington’s Spies will consist of 10 episodes, and is due to air in 2017 (most likely April).
